Now this is just silly  2 different set ups :!:

Good picture mate i redid the wires on the left for the gauges and the one bulb and i have the single wire bulb in at the top gray/yellow like yours.

The right side of things is abit wierd!

2x bulbs with blue,black/yellow wires?

A single wire bulb blue/white?

A bulb wire black/white,green/black?

They seem to be abit short to wire wise :?

Anymore pictures without the round connetor in the way?

Thanks

Brown wire goes here into a female holder that should be just below and to the right of the speedo connection as you look at it from behind.

Ok so the brown wire that i have is a female one and yours is a male one! :? can be modified i suppose lol

Looks like you have 3 bulbs with the yellow/gray wires,i have 2 only!

I have 1 wire that goes to the rev counter which is ok and i have 1 wire going to the voltage reg and there seems to be another connector on it to!

I only have 6 bulbs to!!!!!! :?

I have four yellow and greys that I'm certain are the illumination ones, two that have two wires to them (Black / white & black / green) ( Blue & black / white) and one that has a single light blue / white wire.

I suspect however that mine are mixed up as I've never had this one on a car and bought it as a spare.

I'm certain however that the 4 grey / yellows are the face illumination and the other three are the Charging / indicator / full beam repeaters. I'm looking at a ford wiring diagram now to see if it helps but the colours on it contradict what I'm seeing in front of me

ha ha yeah i had the same problem with the front wireing loom and the manual!

I have only 2 long wires which are the yellow/gray ones and ive put them at the farest away  far left and far bottom right, kinda makes sense!

Just having 6 bulbs means the rev counter will only have 1 bulb and not 2.

I might have been looking at the wrong diagram, assuming that all 6 clocks have the same loom seems presumptious as there are different ones diagrams for GT's deluxes etc. This one might be more accurate it's for a RHD from Oct 69

Colour codes: -

s/y = Slate & yellow

bk/y = Black & yellow

s/r = Slate & red

r/w = Red & white

bk/w = black & white

bk/g = black & green

bl/w = blue & white

br = brown

clockswiring.jpg

61 is main beam warning light and should be supplied by a single blue & white

43 is indicator repeater supplied by s black/white & black/green

59 is the charging light supplied by a blue and black/yellow

which should leave you 4 supplied by slate / yellow for illumination

P.S. Just been through mine and it matches that layout perfectly, mines a twin cam 140mph 8000rpm set.

I had it like that, what a good guess :D there is also a spare bulb which is the same as the charging light! i put it in the spare hole

So now i just have 1 bulb missing which i left as the rev counter as i have 1 there already.

Do you know why there is a spare connector on the voltage reg? and whats the thing poking out at the very top left which has a brown washer round it?

If by top left you mean on the back of the rev counter, it's your rev counter pick up, there should be a U shape type piece of metal that the screw washer holds in place and is missing on yours (and mine :( ) the spare connector on the voltage regulator should have a black and yellow wire on it, voltage regulator is item 44.

It sounds like your loom is incomplete mate.

Right i moved that black/yellow wire from the rev counter now to the voltage reg lol so whats the spare connector for the rev counter for now?

You would think i have bits missing but there are no cut wires and it looks complete.

Not behide the rev counter but behide the 4 small colcks at the back is abit of metal sticking up and half the bottom bit is a hex shape.???

I have the metal nut for the rev counter that your missing :D all it is a round brass nut with a grip.

I also need a front black cover if anyone has one as mine has melted at the bottom by the last owner :?

Bad news, rev counter also needs a black/yellow connector where you had it originally. look at the wiring diagram above, the black/yellow incoming wire 54-11 from the plug splits and goes four ways, rev counter 56, voltage regulator 44, battery volts gauge 57, and charging light 59

Not sure what bit you mean, there should be a male spade that I think is for an earth on the top left? it's shown as wire 31-13 on the diagram and should have a brown wire that earths to your chassis somewhere

got to sign off now as dinner is calling, but hope this has helped.

The very first picture has the spade like you say and mine has a bit of metal like the 2nd picture.

Well i have a earth missing now and the wire that goes to the rev counter

Will everything work anyways?

Escorts are wierd cars!

Thanks

Rev counter won't work without that connection

Sounds to me like you have the loom for a two clock dash, that would explain your missing rev counter and light.

theres loads of variations of these 6 clock looms. i got annoyed in the end and bought a new NOS dash loom from a 6 clock all one piece no messing :-P

i just read right through this and i am confuzzled . . . good luck. i had enough of a hassle last night wiring to 6x9's to my pug let alone wiring a whole dash set lol

Don't think you need to replace it, just get a lamp holder and a male spade connector and splice an extra couple of wires in to the relevant sections of the loom. Scotchlock connectors aren't ideal but they do work.

P.S. I've rethought my earlier supposition that it may be a 2 clock dash loom. If it was it wouldn't have the wires and connectors for the four small gauges :dope:

grey and yellow (any) to your missing lamp socket, and black and yellow to the male spade on the revcounter.

Is the loom taped up in the middle? If so remove the tape and see if that's where the wires have come apart from as there is only one black / yellow and grey/yellow incoming that then split off into multiple wires

Posted

Im not to worryed about the extra light but the other spade wires have to be connected to the other black/yellow wires from the voltage reg to the rev counter?

:D

Look back at the cct diagram, black / yellow comes in as one through the plug then splits into 4, yours (it appears) has one missing I reckon it's the 12v supply so take a line off it to whichever one isn't connected, it shouldn't matter which way round they go (the four black / yellows that is)

Posted

Ive taken the tape off now(sticky).

There looks like someone has been playing with them before!

The 2 lamps for the blue,black/yellow,just the black/yellow one of them 2 lamps are taped togther with the blackl/yellow from the voltage reg,i suppose i just take another wire from that to the rev counter.

The lamp grey/yellow are taped togther to so i can just add another lamp to that one.

Thanks :D
