Guest TheXEgrowler Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 a pack of cars battling it out, now that what you call motorsport and if it on a Oval. All the better, love a oval, bring on the retro rods.......
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 11, 2005 Admin Report Posted November 11, 2005 But ..... the blackstuff boys have plenty of kitty litter to soften the blow if they become a little out of shape ....... rally boys sometimes only have a narrow gravel track to negotiate at 100+ mph with a sheer cliffside drop of 100's of feet - now that is seat of your pants stuff Mucho skill required Jo
Morley Posted November 11, 2005 Author Report Posted November 11, 2005 Not saying that they arent right on the ragged edge, those boys are balls out and i have respect for that... but Imho if your stupid enough to throw your mk2 escort down a narrow track with lots of trees on the outside at 100mph, you've gotta expect it to end in tears!!
RS_Dan Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 But the blackstuff boys have got to overtake... Whilst still driving fast and smooth! The only time a rally car has to overtake is if someones wrapped a car round a tree! not strictly true mate. Alot of overtaking at last weekend's Tempest. and quite recently i think it was Markko Martin who got baulked on a stage by one of the junior WRC drivers and had to overtake, and put the other driver in the ditch Tim, you'll have to correct me on the finer details of this
Morley Posted November 11, 2005 Author Report Posted November 11, 2005 The point is they arent racing for position! They are merely overtaking some slow ass mo fo who just hit a tree and is limping it back to the pits!!
RS_Dan Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 true, although I think in that incident in the WRC, it was just because of Martin's sheer speed
Guest TheXEgrowler Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Rallying is about against the clock. When road race or saloon car racing is all about the pack, scrapping it out with the other 30 vultures that are out there with you.... but it is everyone to their own....
Morley Posted November 11, 2005 Author Report Posted November 11, 2005 Still much rather see cars fighting for position.
Retromotorsport Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Circuit cars dont get hurt if they trip into the kitty litter.... this is andy pipes car (the yellow one in my sig pic) at Mallory Park '93
Morley Posted November 11, 2005 Author Report Posted November 11, 2005 Did he start it up and carry on racing? Or is that bangers?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 11, 2005 Admin Report Posted November 11, 2005 At the end of the day I enjoy both rallying and circuit/track racing. And when it comes to tussles on the track and fighting for position, these boys are just as exciting: Sorry, gone a bit off topic there ....... still reckon rallying over track Jo
Mk 1 Mark Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Ouch!!!! im with ben And Growler on this one . . .Door handling, banging,Out braking backing it in..whilst over taking...love it

And when it comes to tussles on the track and fighting for position, these boys are just as exciting: well done Mk2Jo, proper battles there I've still got the the Rossi/Gibernau fight at the beginning of the year saved (2nd round), still gets me on the edge of my seat every time
tim Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 at the end of the day its personal choice much like the xe debate
QuadCamCapri Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 Two very different disciplines, threading a car through the forest at 3 figure speeds takes some doing, but also leading a race with a pack of cars chewing your rear bumper off for 10 laps takes some doing, and it seems to take for ever to get to the chequer flag! Each to there own, enjoy.
RS_Dan Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 nice one Tim there's some lovely cars on that website (all being driven the way they should be )
livewire7116 Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 How can you all claim to true escort enthusiasts and pick circuit! its for pussies! get it in the forest and sort the men from the boys

Morley Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 This could get messy!! Silly really, as Circuit racing is blatantly better!!!
