But ..... the blackstuff boys have plenty of kitty litter to soften the blow if they become a little out of shape ....... rally boys sometimes only have a narrow gravel track to negotiate at 100+ mph with a sheer cliffside drop of 100's of feet - now that is seat of your pants stuff :twisted: Mucho skill required :worship:

Not saying that they arent right on the ragged edge, those boys are balls out and i have respect for that... but Imho if your stupid enough to throw your mk2 escort down a narrow track with lots of trees on the outside at 100mph, you've gotta expect it to end in tears!!

:dope:

But the blackstuff boys have got to overtake... Whilst still driving fast and smooth! The only time a rally car has to overtake is if someones wrapped a car round a tree!

not strictly true mate. Alot of overtaking at last weekend's Tempest.

and quite recently i think it was Markko Martin who got baulked on a stage by one of the junior WRC drivers and had to overtake, and put the other driver in the ditch :scared: Tim, you'll have to correct me on the finer details of this

The point is they arent racing for position! They are merely overtaking some slow ass mo fo who just hit a tree and is limping it back to the pits!!

Rallying is about against the clock. When road race or saloon car racing is all about the pack, scrapping it out with the other 30 vultures that are out there with you.... but it is everyone to their own....

At the end of the day I enjoy both rallying and circuit/track racing. And when it comes to tussles on the track and fighting for position, these boys are just as exciting:

Circuit cars dont get hurt if they trip into the kitty litter....

this is andy pipes car (the yellow one in my sig pic) at Mallory Park '93

Ok Retro, point taken. Maybe I should have said less likely to get hurt.

well done Mk2Jo, proper battles there :D

I've still got the the Rossi/Gibernau fight at the beginning of the year saved (2nd round), still gets me on the edge of my seat every time :D

Two very different disciplines, threading a car through the forest at 3 figure speeds takes some doing, but also leading a race with a pack of cars chewing your rear bumper off for 10 laps takes some doing, and it seems to take for ever to get to the chequer flag!

Each to there own, enjoy.
