Just a note to the mods-admin, Would it be possible to make for sale posts a bit FAIRER-ie first to reply in the forum gets first dibs-anyone can send a pm so no-one knows who was first for it.

I had it just happen, and i've seen it many other times on here-first reply in the room should get first refusal-no more 'oh yeah but i pm'd him just before your reply' etc. etc.

If you cant play fair dont play at all.....

First come first served surely, if someone replies by PM first then they should have first refusal regardless of whether they've replied to the ad or not.

Otherwise you'd end up with dozens of "PM sent" messages on the ads

Just add PM sent first......Then you know

But what i will add is if i was putting something up for sale,

And a mate of mine wanted it and someone miles away,

Who i never met,i would sell it my mate....

(Unless i had agreed to sell it to the person first)

Even someone i have bought somethink of of before

Or they have bought of me before

Just me,But been messed about ect.......

So just because you have said you will have it

I could have offered it to someone else,As they might have my phone number

It has happened to me but i dont worry about it,Just add phone number on the ad and Phone them,

As some dont get on here a lot as well

Yeah by pm first but it takes what-a minute to reply to the post as well??? And at least with "pm's sent re." replies you know where you stand.

I think on here most of the lot are 100% spot on when it comes to first come first served!

I bought an anglia axle off Mk1 Mark a good while ago and even though he had other people interested who were closer and easier (i.e not Ireland  ) he still kept it aside for me!

Well thats just Mark, but from what I've seen most are genuine guys who are trying their best to be as fair as they can!

When you sell something, you can sell it to whoever you want really. I supposedly had dibs on something, but someone came up with the cash first. I had the hump for 10 seconds then forgot about it.

The trouble with giving first dibs to the first poster is that there are a lot of messers in the world, and no-one can be expected to wait and possibly lose a sale.

As for coughing up to the site before you can make money? Yeah, why not

Sometimes 1st with the money can be best, i have some items that i have received Pm's about ........thought they were sold and have heard no more since.

Slightly different subject ,but can people post if the item has been sold ?

I've chased a few things finding out later that it sold a while before.

Like i said grey area this. You put something for sale on ebay 60p per picture plus a % of what it sells for IE. When i sold my van on there i had to pay eBay £160  On here its fook all .

Money talks, bullsh*t walks

I could'nt begin to count the amount of people who have said 'I'll definatly 110% have that' and I have taken their word for it and then when you chase them up it's all ohhh, errmmm, arhh I don't want it anymore, not just via online but in everyday life, so my strict policy nowadays is nothing is ever held unless there is cash or very minimum a deposit in my hands, both parties know the other is doing the deal then

When I've sold a coulpe of things in the past and put "offers" I've been told to put up a fixed price.

How would you veiw an ad that says "offers" or "best offer" etc.

For me this gives the seller a choice of who he would rather sell to, and at what price, and gives no faulse hope to the buyers.

eg, If I put,

Mk1 fiesta 1.1L "best offer around £100" .

No reply or PM posted could then be classed as "first dibs", the seller then gets to make his own mind up without letting anyone down.

As long as the price is realistic then I can't see how this can be faulted.

prehaps a few ebay type rules when selling might help the site IE a small donation on each sale go towards the up keep of the site.

Personally I think you should only be able to sell & buy on this site if your a contributor to it.

As for who has "first dibs", I dont see any reason why you need to PM someone unless its to send your number or address :?

As far as I'm aware its an unwritten rule that whoever says they want it first gets it providing they pay promptly and dont mess the seller around.

I agree but what do you class as a contributor?

Someone that has contributor under thier name. It means you have contributed towards the site. Contribting should be made more easy for people to see and do. :?

i have noticed that you may put a add on the site dos'nt mean you will sell it,i think if you were to take a ebay stance with buying and selling on osf, then people will just put their add's on ebay instead, has would reach more people,i my-self do alright with ebay put osf's on their and they make more money then what i was asking on here most time's,their is a lot of people who brouse ebay who have never heard of osf,i think buying and selling should be open to everyone but the thing i cant stand is those who only post stuff for sale and dont join in the site these are the people who should be charged or told to f**koff, because they cant get what they want for it else ware
