May get the wife to drive the capper and bring my mk3 tranny recovery. I have taken off the plastic bumper so at a good Twenty years old I think it qualifies as old skool

Hmmm, hate to say this, but I would say it's not. Too wedgy. That having said, I did look at a D reg Mk3 today, and absolute minter pick up. If it had been a Mk2 I would have ripped thier arm off at £1,500......

I would have a mk2 but they wont lift as much as the mk3, mine is plated at 3925kg and as a working truck that means more money

Why? You do realise transits are only good for 3.5 T don't you? If you mean cos the later transits have a deeper chassis, the Mk3 and the Mk2 have the same chassis. If it's a spec, it's down to the hydraulics, and if it's a beavertail it's down to the winch. Lat's face it, specs travel overloaded most of the time anyway. We have a luton that's rated at 3.9 T by the company that extended it. It's got a 15ft 6 body on it.
