 this thread scares me but very cleaver at the same time :lol:

basicly mate, depends how you look at it really.....

its not the £10k for the broken arm thats tempting me, its the quality time id get to spend with my family and the stress would be totally lifted, i honestly believe the grief im having is doing more harm than a broken bone can do.

im seriously thinking about this one though.

ive done it before when i got hit by a car and it hurts like fook

that explains everything

my god your tapped! :o

thats not a clever idea, bad breaks can affect the rest of your life. i know a guy who's been off work for about 15 monts with a wrist injury- still on full pay but he's a bum and a delinquent. sits in the pub ALL day now just supping his life away. he's a sound guy and was very good at his job, but the IT industry moves fast and i doubt he'll be able to go back to his previous position.

plus when the winter comes again it can cause all kinds of pain and restricted movement.

just get a stress note from the doc if its really that bad.

Are you covered for a broken limb outside of work and work hours? If you do it at work wont there be an investigation!

Carefull which bone you break! based on this whole thread Im guessing your youngish and tough (to think about doing it, young! to believe you have the guts to do it, Tough!) Bones contain amongst other things a thick greasy substance called yellow marrow (fatty cells). Once a bone is broken this marrow can seep into the blood stream and settle in th eheart or the brain, then if you are unlucky you die. It is particularly a problem in the big bones of fit strong young men. Big bones mean lots of marrow. And its not that uncommon. upper leg bones are the worst and the upper arm bone as well. Dont forget the forearms and lower legas are actually two bones and a break here can lead to complications in wrists and ankles. An xray will show up any anomolies with the break and If I was investigating the award of 6 months paid leave for a broken bone of a known disgruntled employee id be asking for the x-rays to determine how it happened. Especially if it was claimed to have happened at work where you would be most entitled to paid leave.

Id think seriously about this before you do it. Bad luck and youll die, slightly better luck and youll have a broken limb with future complications, have lost your jobb and no pay and be hit with a conviction for attempted fraud.

tread carefully.

Be very careful, who knows who is watching what you type, all it takes is someone to search on here and your whole plan comes unravelled, you end up with a conviction for obtaining a pecuniary advantage (fraud), plus have no job and a broken bone to get over.

I have broken my ankle twice now and it hurt like hell (both times) now I can't run for long and have problems with my ankle which has then gone up to my knee.

I think you should think twice about this

I have never had a broken bone untill a year or so ago, I broke my middle finger on my left hand (gives me hell when playing guitar hero) & broke the 5th metacarpal on my right hand (I can now only count to 4 now cos my little finger won't move independently!)

feel for you mate, like a lot of people i've been through some real rough patches too.

for what it's worth, i'd go straight to the doc, tell him how bad (and how extreme it's making you think), the doc will sign you off for 2 weeks, with a follow-up appointment and probably another 2 weeks, and so on. the doc will probably also try to give you pills (i'd try to avoid that unless necessary, it's a long road back), use the time to take stock of what's good in life, and work like an animal to sort the crap stuff out - i.e. job searching etc.

oh, and the mrs had a small toe broken last year to re-set it - still hurts her constantly 3months or so later.

i had my nose broken 18 yrs ago as a kid, i've suffered on-off with sinusitis ever since and now need an op to make sure i don't go blind.

i think what everyone is trying to get at is, sort the stress rather than giving yourself more worries mate

:thumbsup::thumbsup:
