MexDan Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 I've just emptied my catch tank on the mex and its FULL of fooking WATER!! So thats a new head gasket then... or worse case a cracked head!! Just when i get some money to do a few bits to the thing as well!! Bo**ox
M.Bird412E Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 When you say full how full, it may just be a build up of condensation, is the car using water? is the oil cap creamy? Do you occansionly start it let it warm up or is it a daily? it might not be all that bad! A head gasgets not the end of the world though 2 hours work on a x-flow if there's two pairs of hands.
MexDan Posted March 1, 2008 Author Report Posted March 1, 2008 Yes mate its been using water.. running hot.. creamy oil etc etc All the signs are there... its not the work i'm pissed about.. i have no problem with doing that.. its just as u start to (or feel like you start to) get some where with it you get somthing like this happen!! Two steps forward.. three back
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 I know how you feel. I had the engine out of my van about 36 times before things started to go right. And then the head gasket blew. But I'd just bought a two litre, so I just dropped that in.
DeanMk1Capri Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 Bad luck m8... happens to us all from time to time. My brand new engine ate a cam in 1,500 miles for no apparent reason, had to change it. Just fitted a new specially built inlet manifold to run twin carbs and it f**king leaks - aahhh Replacement on its way, but what bad luck and what a waste of time! Get there in the end
