indeed I am  off to austria in 2 weeks time for that very purpose actually. Get yourself to x-scape for some lessons before you go so you can spend more time actually boarding while you're away

Its hard work. Far harder then it looks.

I taught myself as im too tight to pay for lessons from some stuck up twat.

I went to Llandudno in North Wales. It probably helped a bit that i can already Ski a little bit so i was used to the surface.

Its good fun, and a friend who went often got really good and its great to watch.

i would certainnly like to try sometime. after skateboarding for nearly 6 years it should come natural but the whole concept of being able to travel facing forwards, board perpendicular to the slope both forwards and backwards will be a bit wierd :-D

Just come back from a week snowboarding in Andorra. Well good mate, its easier than it looks to get the basics. Just hire your board and boots the first time you go, we're off to Jackson Hole in the States for the new year, 11 metres of powder Woo Hoo :ykt: mate, we always go to lessons every time we go, that way you hit the bigger runs with the right technique and it just falls into place

for your first time rent your stuff when you book your holiday get the "learn to board" package it usually £200-£250 but its got the board boots and binding hire and your lift pass as well as your lessons usually works out a lot dearer if you get it separately and for a first place to go andorra and the resort arinsal slopes arn't challenging but the night life is great and the instructors are blinding (if you go there say hello to kelvin he will be the instructor on the mountain with the beer in his hand and who can't stand up and is stagering about) don't bother buying that stuff off ebay because there is lots of stuff for different riders the same as you get different make boots for different shape feet and they usually come up 1 to 1/2 a size smaller than what size you wear in trainers i.e. my trainers size 9 snow board boots 8 1/2

see if you like it first (you will) and then go to some where like xscape at milton keynes and the snowboard asylam will let you try the boards and bindings first and then shop on the internet to see how cheap you can get it

but when you go this sort of thing happens and then your hooked and my mate is drinking a very strong coctail and didn't need a drink for the res of the night :twisted::twisted::twisted:

what you need is

jacket and trousers (tk max is a good place to get stuff cheeper) or rent it

sunglasses (leval 3 uv protection) and goggles

gloves just snow board ones

snowboard sock's or very thick long socks

fleece to wear under jacket (if there is not one in the jacket) dependent on the weather

long johns dependent on the weather

just make sure you get factor 60 sun cream because if its sunny it's hotter than a summer holiday and even with the sun cream you will get very dodgy sun tan called panda eyes but if its overcast it's fooking freezing :shock:
