richie_stix Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 well, update for anyone who wants to know.... handed my police report into the station, and the police were really quite helpful, which was nice... then i rang up my insurance company who gave me the details of the said vehicle, and the number of their insurer... turns out it was a DHL van! any way, rang up DHL who had 2 options on their phone line... "press 1 for queries re parcels/packages, press 2 to make an insurance claim" so seems they must get a lot of clais against their drivers since it was one of two options on the phone! now I'm just waitiing for there letter, need to talk to the driver? if he denies it i will be seriously pissed off, but at least I'm getting somewhere!
antz Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 dont give up mate! my dad had the same thing from a transit tipper in my volvo but he was actually in the car at the time!....he cut my dad up on a roundabout.took the front corner of the car out and drove off so my dad chased him for 2 miles flashing his lights and hitting the horn til he pulled over and the guys reply was 'you hit me' so my dad bollocked him and got the company who he works for......my dad bought all the bits and fixed the car himself then sent him the bill. they paid up eventually
sab6024 Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 "press 1 for queries re parcels/packages, press 2 to make an insurance claim" so seems they must get a lot of clais against their drivers since it was one of two options on the phone! now I'm just waitiing for there letter, need to talk to the driver? if he denies it i will be seriously pissed off, but at least I'm getting somewhere! I'm guessing that pressing "2" would be for an insurance claim against broken or mancky parcels I really hope you get a good result. I've been hit by two uninsured drivers one of those was a hit and run. It took ages to make the first claim He can't very well deny it seeing as there was a witness who gave the details Good Luck
beu_79 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 A bloke in a white van caught my back corner driving across behind me when i was stuck in traffic. He took off and i gave chase , little did he know he was simply giving me an excuse to live out a childhood dream of being in the Dukes of Hazzard. After chasing along tracks and car parks he doubled back and pulled in, i climbed out my window and we looked at the damage. In the cold light of day all he'd done was caught my trim and slightly bent the bumper bracket but he'd told his company i had rolled into him. Knobend. I rang up and tried to get them to pay for a new bumper but decided there was no point as pulled the bracket back out. Sounds like you'll have more joy mate, hope it works out for you. Don't give up on it.
blower Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 a mate of mine has just got 5 points and a £250 fine for leaving the scene of an accident he slightly bumped a car while pulling out of a parking space he got out to take a look at the damage , a slight scuff could be seen through the muck , no damage to his , so he left so theres hope
