tim Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 HID is a light system that alot of high end new cars have, the very bright white lights and very expensive and would melt cortina wring
Chud Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 ive been looking at new bulbs as ive changed the tina over to halogen but what are hid and h7 ? as these seem like other alternatives Hiyah mate,i've just noticed your post after i've put one up about Halogen light conversion's too!! I'll be watching your post too to see what people think?
Chris! Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 our new motor has HID's and there brilliant
geoffersmasher Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 HID is a light system that alot of high end new cars have, the very bright white lights and very expensive and would melt cortina wring well imagine my tina wiring would go up quite easy so ill scrap that option but h7 anyone ? they look just like a h4 bulb whats the difference
Savvi Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 You can use the Hid option but you would have to run them through a relay for the feeds 1st. Some of the cheaper kits have these anyway. The transformers kick out up to 400 volts !!! and the power draw is heavy you would need a good battery and alternator.
GT_Jim Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 i have seen mk1/2 golf lights being fitted as they use bulbs rather than candles for lighting but im not sure what the differnce is in wiring but there is a conversion kit for classics to go H7 which is about 400sheets all in
Savvi Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Just buy the H4 conversion new flat headlights with side lights built in, i bought one recently which also fits the Mini for £34.00 from a local Motor Factors.
Tom Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 HID = high intensity discharge. basically xenon lights mate you're best off with a halogen conversion
Muttley MK2 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 HID systems usually are hand and glove with the reflectors and beam pattern lenses and just the bulbs would be pointless
