I have a lever type Line lock to plumb into the car whilst I put my brake lines back together. So I have a couple of questions

Firstly, I know that ideally it should be fitted into the front brake circuit. But that would mean joining both front circuits together and then splitting them again to go to each caliper.

Rather than doing that, is there any reason why I can just put it into the rear brake line. That way, when its locked off then the rear brakes would be isolated and therefore save my shoes when im spinning the back wheels up.

Im using a standard master cylinder and servo, not a bias box.

Second question is wondering how people mount their locks? only it doesnt have a bracket or any securing tabs/ holes. Im going to need to fab up something, but suggestions would be great.

Thank you peeps

i dnt have a clue about all the technical talk (:P ) but you could put it near the drivers seat, inbetween the sill and the seat

you could fabricate a 'L shaped' ( ) peice of metal and weald it to the seal and the rear/ front floor plan.

Thats kind of what I was thinking 5hane  I just cant think of anything better to secure the lock to the bracket than a couple of jubilee clips

how comfortable are you with a wealder ? lol

you could weald some little brackets onto the line lock and drill a hole through them so you can bolt it down, then smooth the edges off so it looks better. and if it dont look good you could paint it black or silver ?

mate wot i did with mine its to just spot weld a couple of M6 bolts to the underside of the line lock, then you can just bolt it to the floor, i have seen it done with rubber P clips but it looks naff i think  , i would have the brakes so it locks the fronts, just pull it on do your stuff then when comming to the end of the burnout just let the handle off  here is my line lock :thumbsup:2007_0514RACECAR0018.jpg

i want todo it isolating the rears so i can heel toe it and do rolling burnouts without destroying the shoes

dont think it will quite have the grunt todo them on the sticky track though

You should only have one line for the fronts anyway-this goes into a t piece usually in engine bay which splits to driver/passenger callipers. So just plumb it into that before the t piece-the idea is to lock the fronts so you can use both feet on gas/clutch to wheelspin to warm the tyres up.

You can also get a line lock which unlocks when you press the brake pedal again.

Definately got three outlets on the master cylinder, two for the front and one rear. No T-peices anywhere at the moment.

I normally burn-out with a bit of quick foot swapping on the pedals,As I cant twist my foot enough to heel and toe, I just sidestep the clutch and whack my foot on the stoppers. Im just trying to save my rear shoes and cylinders really

Welding a couple of bolts on or perhaps a couple of short peices of tubing to bolt through sounds like a plan. I take it there arent any seals in the line lock that might be affected by the heat??

Thats what i'd assume too Sam

But if I dont check, and just attack it with the MIG then you just know there will be seals in there to ruin
