Brain teaser for the weekend as it's cold wet, snowy and windy.

My 5 Year old was given his easter homework ............. create an invention show how he came up with the idea and if possible show plans and make the invention ?

I haven't got a clue what to or how to go about this at all !!!!

Hard for a 40 year old let alone a 5 year old who doesn't even understand what an invention is.

So can anyone come up with a simple idea that we can possible build over the weekend or has had to do something similar for their kids ?

seeing as how its a 5 year olds homework, i would start with something like a show stand for his/ hers favorate toys... or something like that?

simple to make form some bits of wood, a few pin nails and some glue. then same nice bright paint (in childs fav colour)

i think thats what the teacher would be looking for- i think 'invention' is a little OTT though.

 An invention... for a 5 year olds homework i have never heard that before when teaching in schools!! Children of this age are too young, to be doing a homework activity like this.

Thats a good idea to make a stand for the child's favourite toys...

Or even i would look for maybe an invention that was a car... of how the child would like the car to be... use cardboard boxes and even wood!! Let the child paint it.

A lovely messy job!!

Have fun :D

Let us all know what you do.

last year my eldest had a similar thing, we made an easter egg holder for a f1 fan, basically an f1 car made from card board cut a hole where the driver is and the egg was the helmet of the driver...got a certificate

Couple of good ideas there

He really doesn't understand the concept of what an " invention" is, let alone make one !!!

My wife is a pre-school teacher and she thought it was over the top.

He wants to make a remote control to control Father Xmas and his Sleigh so he can have presents when ever he wants them ?

We'll wait until we have more suggestions !!!
