...and give me enthusiasm please

Right iv got a week off work starting tomorrow and one ILL mk1 escort.

Its also the Scotch corner meet a week today and i really want to go.

I had my ST170 lump in and ready and it lunched a cam bearing on start up causing the cam to lock up, and the belt to jump, and 4 bent valves :(

SO i stripped it and fitted a blacktop mondeo 2.0 head onto the ST block, and now theres no oil pressure (im guessing this was the cause of the first hiccup) SO iv left the car for a week because i have had enough of it.

Plan is to strip it down again and find out whats going on, could be an oil pick up pipe problem or worse

Anyway with a week to go im going back to it with a positive attitude wanting to get it ready (sorry GOING to get it ready!!!) for the meet next weekend.

so i need cheering on :lol:

Ok stripped it down today. No immediate obvious problem to be honest.

Maybe the paper gasket is to blame??

Oh and what a bastard of a job getting the rear two sump nuts/bolts off. Used an air chisel in the end

Got my ass round to Fords this morning and ordered a new oil pick up pipe gasket, new oil pump gasket and crank oil seal. New sump gasket and sealer.

Checked the part numbers and the ST170 engine has the same oil pump as a standard 2.0 blacktop zetec (i have a known good one so im going to fit that lot up tomorrow and go from there. )

Well iv spent all day today building it all up, different oil pump, new gasket, new oil pick up gasket, new sump gasket and sealer. All the suspension fitted back up on the crossmember (what a job on your own )

I took the plug leads off and cranked it but the oil light stayed on

Put them back on a cranked it again and woohoo the light goes out and it runs like a fookin dream

Shame about the oil pissing out from between the gearbox and sump, must have nipped the new sump gasket somewhere. I went from being happy to being sick as fook again within minutes

Gearbox out today sorted the oil leak, the sump gasket had slid into the sump about 3 inches along the rear crank oil seal face. Easy repair for a change.

All back together and running sweet 8)

Just need the bonnet fitting and a seat fixing in, the scotch corner on Sunday :thumbsup:
