What I would recommend is tell us your budget, and what you want to use the car for, then we could recommend your best parts, Fiesta Steve is right but an engine at 20,000 rpms wont be very usable in the tesco car park. If you increase your capacity you will increase your torque. A good head job and matching cam will also increase your power and torque probably by more than a stroke / over bore will achieve, your inlet tract length wants to match your cam and exhaust design, so a "longer the better" wont necessarily be right unless they know your set up. Big subject mate. Best anallagy of Power V Torque I've read is. Torque - How much you get paid Power - How often you get paid. If you got a really long bar and pulled on the end of it (torque) you would be able to stop your engine, say 1lb on the end of a 100ft bar (100ft /lbs), but you don't make enough power to go very fast!! glad someone likes the thread... really didn't have a budget in mind... im sort of absorbing as much info as possible and storing it in my brain for a later date.... my budget defo wouldn't stretch that far tho.... £500 or so i guess to fiddle bout the internals? well said bout the exhaust/inlet manifolds matching the cams... forgot all about that malarky! still need to get round to gitting my 4-2-1 manifold yet, which is aparently better for low down power, but my cam is unkown brand... just know it's a high torque cam... came with the engine! at the end of the day, this all comes down to making my pinto cappa beat a 2.9 cappa! which has 150 lb/ft... so getting my pinto to 130/40 with my 1.6 diff ratio is what i'm getting at!
