jay Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 45's aaaaallllll ttttthhhheee wwwwwwwwaaaaaayyyyyyyy.... (think i got me point across)
Mr Sam Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 do u recon the R1 bike carbs will work on a 1.1 fiesta?????? you'll need a custom manifold but as its a smaller engine and obviously roughly the same size as the average sports bike they should work ok talk to dutt nutt i know he had bike carbs on a 1300 x'flow manifold think he wanted rid of theres been a set of twin 36's on ebay for a 1.1 fiesta takes it upto 60/70bhp £250 though there in germany
RChambers Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Bike throttle bodies are better than both. GSXR750/1000 throttle bodies flow enough air for 400bhp as they are 46mm tapering down to 40mm and you can bore the engine side up to 46mm too if you really wanted. Big bikes have throttle bodies that are bigger than the choke sizes most people use in webers (38mm is most common on a pinto I believe). Hayabusa ones are even bigger again if the GSXR ones aren't good enough
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 14, 2006 Author Admin Report Posted November 14, 2006 Okay ... bit out of my depth here so apologies in advance if I am incorrect ..... don't you need an ECU for throttle bodies?
bobmk1 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 carbs jo, every time but which type personally i fancy the bike variety
Tango Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 ........don't mess about with girly bike carbs they never make the power!!
emu Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Okay ... bit out of my depth here so apologies in advance if I am incorrect ..... don't you need an ECU for throttle bodies? "I got throttle bodies" is a posh way of saying that the car is fuel injected.(Like all modern cars). You need an ECU to control this as its an electronic based system. Proper cars (and old ones) use carburettors. Which are basically self contained and are a mechanical system, so no ECU is needed.
LUKE261 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 its down 2 personal preferance and what you want from the car, if your just gunna drive 2 shows n that, then bike carbs if u want big power gains and want 2 run it in the osfdc, then 45's, and 45's sound better!!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 15, 2006 Author Admin Report Posted November 15, 2006 Well I wanna drive to shows AND do the OSFDC .... am gonna go for 45's as this has been recommended to me by a trusted friend and engine builder
Pipster007 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Would that be Colin, by any chance
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 15, 2006 Author Admin Report Posted November 15, 2006 Would that be Colin, by any chance Might be
Monkfish Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Well, I'll let you guys know how bike carbs perform on a Pinto in a week or so's time...
LUKE261 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 jo 45's are wot u want then!! im guna get some 2 for 2007 osfdc
Col-ashtonmobile Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Would that be Colin, by any chance nah not me wot the fook do i know
Tigran Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Well boshed my name down with Bogg bros in their waiting list to get the pinto manifold made up for the R1 carbs i got. The main reason is price, i get the manifold made up, I send the carbs to them they clean them out and jet them get all the nessecary hoses i need in order to bolt it on, send it back as a kit for 270 pounds. If I could get twin 45's with a manifold and ready to go for that price i would get them. Anyhoo guess i'll see what they're like about a week after crimbo.
MadMark2 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 Just to throw it in the mix abit, What about a 4 barrel holley carb ?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 15, 2006 Author Admin Report Posted November 15, 2006 Just to throw it in the mix abit, What about a 4 barrel holley carb ? Who you been speaking to
MadMark2 Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 I was was looking on Esslingers web site the other day, they do some serious stuff 4 pintos........ i want 1 of there 2.5 litre engines
RChambers Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 its down 2 personal preferance and what you want from the car, if your just gunna drive 2 shows n that, then bike carbs if u want big power gains and want 2 run it in the osfdc, then 45's, and 45's sound better!! Webers, Dellortos, bike carbs, throttle bodies, if they are one body per cylinder they all sound pretty much the same. My zetec was on bike throttle bodies and sounded awesome, better in fact than my old pinto did on twin carbs. Summing up the situation I'd say: Originality - Webers/Dellortos Budget - Bike carbs Ultimate - Throttle bodies Agree?
