kevmk2 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I had an ATB unit in my old english axle, always done the job, until i sold it to my mate, who had much less power, around 140bhp in a mk2 rs2000, he had a standard 5 speed gearbox too. He put it in his car and he tried doing a donut and all it done was spin one wheel

Toby Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 That's because they unlock if you lift a wheel isn't it? I assume it would be the same if you put one wheel on wet grass And probably why the competition boys go for the plate type.
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Not sure why ATB's don't lock when doing a doughnut in 1st gear sometimes as both wheels are on the tarmac and on the floor . Perhaps they are doing what they are supposed to do and give you good traction even under these harsh conditions . After all when sliding about sideways this is just slowing you down really
aden Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 got an atb in mine, cant fault it, really transformed the car, ace for traction round bends and stuff, i find though you do have to give it some stick for it to lock though, at low speeds it will still spin one wheel
