Bit of violence, quite a bit of blowing shit up, few people die at the beginning and about halfway through, but not overly nasty. No worse than some of the old, old action cartoons or The A Team really. Some highly amusing bits in it as well, and you'll wanna take yer bloke along as well to gawp at Pepper (Tony Stark's assistant). Good, entertaining film. If yer sprogs are boys, they'll beg you to let 'em see it again.
