mk2escortmad Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 on removing wheel studs please... i have just bought a set of wheels for my mk2 capri but the studs are too short now, i have bought longer studs and bolts from burton but am unsure how to change the studs for the longer ones any help will be greatly recieved cheeRS in advance
Ratters Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 i just screwed a nut on so it was flush with the end of the thread & bashed it through. you then need a spacer or washers to pull the new one through by tightening a nut up
285Andy Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 as far as im aware, ie if there like any other ford they just tap out. knock new ones back in with hammer or alternativly you could draw them back in using a wheel nut. its never failed me in the past
john123 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 if they are to long they will have to be shortened you might have to take the hubs off to fit them
mk2escortmad Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 cheeRS guys for the help, they arrive tomorrow so will have a craack at it then
Rick Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 tip: if you plan on re-using any dont hammer them out without a nut on the end as you fook the thread.... i learned the hard way as usual
mk2escortmad Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 i dont think i will be using the old ones again lol, may seem stupid question but do i hit them from the front as i look at them?? is it just that simple??
mk2escortmad Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 ideal, so i can do the front the same as the back and vice versa??? ideal cheeRS
Ratters Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 hit just one stud out front & rear & try a new one first just incase you have to split the hubs/discs or whip the half shafts out that will turn an hours work into a days work
