How much very roughly would i be looking at to get a 1300 crossflow head ported & polished, skimmed, bigger valves & better valve springs etc all done professionally?

Also can i have these mods done to the head and still be able to use the standard 1300 block without any problems :?

get a 1300 gt head i would have thought it would bolt strait on

I only want this one because i want to get it done properly and have a nice low mileage head rather than a 1600/1300GT one i don't know anything about

I did'nt know a 1600 head could be put onto a 1300 block will that be as good as getting the 1300 head worked on professionally or not?

Yes theres no rush for it mate and thanks that would be great

Also do you know what sort of power it would put out with a 1600 head on a 1300 block the 1300 engine is 65BHP standard

well a gt head is just the same with bigger valves so get 1 and get it polished save you some money and if your after power from your escort get a better crab unless you got a twin choke all ready

Yes a 1600 head will bolt on but don't expect big gains.

The work you mention will be around the £500 mark and you will notice the difference then :ykt:

£500

Is that just for the head work alone?

Yes, just for head work alone.

New valves, guides and springs will cost approx £200 alone so could well be more than £500 depending on just how much work you want done.

A head off ebay could well be much cheaper and you average BVH goes for around £200 but you don't know what you are getting for your money until it arrives on your doorstep.

You pays your money and takes your chance

as far as i knew 1300 and 1600 heads are identical bar the GT which has the bigger valves :?

i asked a local tuner how much to port and polish, think it was £425 for an 8v head  in the end i picked up a very tasty looking one for not much money, just right place right time i guess,,,,yet to see if it works though

It's a lot of work to do a head properly. Why not go straight to a 1600 it will make the power more readily and you could build it up over time whilst cruising around in the 1300. Insurance issues?

I offered him a good running 1600gt engine and box not long ago !!!! But what would be a good price ?

Fit a 1600 engine cheaper quicker and better.
as above .... if you can find one at a sensible price that is!!!

Exactly why i am going for the 1300.

Plus try and find a really good one with genuine low mileage for a fair price.
