mossy Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I need to re-earth my front indicators as ive just fitted Carbon Fibre front 1/4 bumpers and i cant earth them as they would be to the old bumper....Could i re-wire them into the earth on the suspension top?
MexDan Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 It may be different on a mk2.. not sure... but can you not earth them to the front panel behind the grill next to the headlight?? That way if the earth i ever crap its easy to check... thats where my headlights are earthed on the mk1... and you cant see any wires??? just a thought
Rick Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 i earthed mine on a screw coming through the panel from my headlamp bowls.
emu Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Have you got carbon bumper irons too? If not then just connect your earth to them. Otherwise feed the wires through the bumper iron hole in the front panel and earth it using one of the iron bolts
Tom Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ just what i was gonna say

Tom Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 you can still earth it to the bumper iron bolt as this is bolted to the chassis

You still need to get the wire to the headlight bowl screw which means either having wire trailing across your front panel or going past the bumper iron bolt
mossy Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 i though for something to be earthed it has to be between metal (bolt/screw) and the vehicle body? surely it wont work if i use the CF bumper iron?
emu Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Put an eyelet on the end of the wire and put the bumper bolt through it before it goes into the chassis. the current will pass through the bolt into the body
radar tech Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 as long as it is into the vehicle body , anywhere will be fine
