Front struts...

got the two split pins and nuts off, so why wont the TCA and steering linkage thing come off the bottom of the strut! Tried jacking the strut up to see if they would pull downwards off the strut but no.

any advice anyone

Smack the side of the casting with a sensible size hammer. Not the actual ball joint or thread but the casting that it goes through . Vast majority of the time that will shock the taper free and doesnt damage the boot. I find its very rare that I have to resort to a ball joint splitter, in fact, I use mine so little that I never even bothered taking it to work

you need the tool unless you have the nack with the hammer.

i dont have the nack. just be careful not to split the rubber seal

and this goes between the arm and the strut with the stud in the middle i guess.... know where i can get one from?

Thats right mate  if what emu suggested dont work you should be able to get a splitter from Halfords or if you dont mind waiting a few days get one from fleabay

i wouldnt buy the fork type...they spread open when smacked on esp when they are truly stuck...then break!!!!

i would recommend the bolt type like this design

Smack it with a hammer on the side, then use a scaffold pole or similar to lever it down helps with 2 of you ................. one hitting one using the lever !!!

The pole should wedge from the front of the car to chassis rail and on top of the arm, then push down.

those fork type ones don't do the joint any good mate but the one with the bolt in it is a better one.

As others have said a good sharp shock with a hammer should free it off
