Fuel pipe problems

last night the engine decided it didnt need the fuel pipe connected to run, it was wrong had to tape it in place to get me home, the problem is that the pipe is still connected to the brass connector bu a clip, but how does the brass fit onto the carb? heres some pics to help explain better than me

It was supposed to be a press fit, some Loctite Bearing Retainer will glue it in, make sure you get it really clean before you re-assemble it. (both parts)

cheers for that, toby mate, think ive got just the stuff at work so i guess a bottle of that will find its way to my garage i think i might wire it into place aswell to be on the safe side

Same thing happened to me while I was on the Motorway last year.All of a sudden there was the stink of petrol so I pulled over and stopped which was a pain because the starter motor had fallen off earlier that day too so once I had tie wrapped the pipe back in I had to bump start the car backwards down the motorway,I was facing up hill at the time.

Embarrassed to say the tie wraps are still the only thing holding the pipe in.

i have the same problem at the moment....its came out a couple of times while driving......ive now stuck a small bit of wire in between the pipe and the carb, then pushed it on...it now holds

i shall be finding some wire to hold round the clip and the carb the second time it went i was going up hill and the smell of petrol suddenly creeped in

Mine used to fall out on my cortina. I made sure it was super clean and roughed it up with a bit of 120 grit. Then copius amounts of super-glue did the trick
