Trying to put a new CV boot on the fez for the MOT. How the hell do you get the drive shaft out of the joint to do this? The MOT bloke said it will be easy but so far its been a right fookin pain in the arris.

Outer joint?

Cut the oil one off, buy a stretch boot, buy/borrow a special cone for sliding the boot over the joint.

Reverse boot, put cone on the end of the CV joint slide boot over, fill with grease etc etc.

If you want to remove the joint, belt it with a hammer until it comes off the shaft, you will need to replace the locating circlip on the driveshaft if you do this ideally. But dont pull the inner joint out by accident.

Aye, its a right mess on to do, doesn't matter how strong you are once its lubed up its almost impossible to force over the cone lol.

 , instead of belting it with a hammer and then having to buy another clip you just broke, why not just remove the clip ??

Amongst all the grease is a a clip, similar to a circlip but without the holes.

Prise the clip open and the joint slides off the end.

I reaslise you have fitted it alread Johnny, sorry I didn't read this earlier

I have never actually removed a CV joint on a Ford, I have done a few on VW/Audi's (Knock off joints as you cannot see the circlip)
