gmrvic Posted June 8, 2008 Report Posted June 8, 2008 This is my project car. Originally It is mk2 from 1974, but when I bought it in 2003 it had mk3 parts (mask, fenders, bumpers, headlights, hood etc...). It also had S equipment fitted (recaro fishnets ) and the engine was 2.0 V6 cologne. You didn't import these in UK, but it's practically same engine as 2.3 V6 in cortina mk5. Car was in pretty bad shape, rust was everywhere, interior was faded, engine needed a complete overhaul... Engine, transmission...
gmrvic Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 Body is welded and painted besides the engine space, i want it to look perfect, so I'll paint it again,to match the rest of the car. Seats are re-trimmed. And I'm working on suspension for last few weeks. When I'm done with it, I'll start working on the engine. I bought another 2.0 V6 from Taunus in excellent shape, so i just need to put new gaskets and paint it. New pictures soon. Here are some recent pics: More pictures soon
gmrvic Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 Yes, it's a german capri. Colour is Ferrari metallic blue with pearl.

gmrvic Posted September 1, 2008 Author Report Posted September 1, 2008 never been a fan of 3spoke wheels mate but the wheels u got are smart. think they will really suit the car once they are wraped Thanx! I too am not a fan of 3 spokes, but these look great and are rare to come by. They look great on the car, especially with 206/60 tyres.
gmrvic Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 Thought i might post some pictures, currently finishing the engine, and prepairing for installation: Some parts: Gearbox: Old VS new: Engine: New pics when i put the engine in! Gonna try to vid the startup too
NeilT Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 cracking pictures looks like some realy great work O and loving the wheels
stephens_xpack Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 If a jobs worth doing...etc,etc..looks the muts. Those rocker covers are those replacements or are they the grotty ones a bit further back up the post? If so how did you shine them so good please.
gmrvic Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 Thank you. Those rocker covers are (were) grotty ones from above I used mild sandpaper from 100-200-300-500-800-1000-1200, then the polisher and rude and mild paste. (excuse my poor dictionary, i don't know all precise names), after polishing, I had them chromed. They look alittle greasy on the pics, because i took the pics right after i finished it.
OldskoolSue Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Top job lovely capri im liking them wheels alot!
gmrvic Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 Haven't updated for a while, here goes Engine inside and running! First run (poor quality, 10 pm  ) After little tinkering, it started to work properly: Some pics: Temporary Taunus Manifold: Front end Next thing is to make complete new exhausts from stainless steel, so i can finish it finally. Cheers!
gmrvic Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Finished it from the outside, and thought i might take some pics  Still got to sort out the brakes, exhausts, and complete the interior.
dogdish Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Love that Car!!!!!! And those German ATS wheels are well nice.....
Trevmk3 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 looks very nice that does mate that blue looks nice in the sun
Admin Vista Posted April 28, 2009 Admin Report Posted April 28, 2009 Nice Job you're doing there, how does the 2 litre V6 perform? I was over in Split and Sibenik a couple of weeks ago, fabulous place you have there.
gmrvic Posted April 28, 2009 Author Report Posted April 28, 2009 Thank you all 2.0 V6 performs between 1.6 Gt and 2.0 pinto. Has more torque and a bit faster than 1.6, but it's slower than 2.0. But has far better sound
gmrvic Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Got the interior sorted out and completed, installed modern music in the glove box, got rs both 3 and 4 spoke wheels by pure luck And I switched the choke to an electronic instead of water one, because it warms much faster, and the engine works healthier... Some pics: 4 spoker, bought because of the wheel boss, but i'll definitely restore it in the near future 3 spoker from sierra, wheel was grey, I needed black, so I painted it with colour for leather, for now... before: Now: Interior: Electronic choke:
t33stat Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Wow that looks great! I would love to have the money to do something like this And the ability lol! Well my moto is if you don't try you don't learn lol Good luck with the rest of the build! Ryan
