72mk1escort Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I have a funny problem well it might not be a problem but my oil light on the dash sometimes comes up upon hard braking or going around a corner fast my oil level is right upto maximum on the dipstick so thats not the problem is this normal or is my send faulty? Any help would be really appreciated as this is very annoying
V8ian Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I would guess its surge, and you are uncovering the pickup, so the engine is sucking air, Is the dipstick right for the engine, or possibly a wrong sump and pickup combo, or it just be you are driving the car too hard, may be time to upgrade to a Sport sump which has internal baffles.
72mk1escort Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 It is the dipstick from my 1100 crossflow engine could that be the problem?
Fiesta Steve Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 It is the dipstick from my 1100 crossflow engine could that be the problem? Drain the oil out. Re-fill the engine with tthe correct amount of oil. (Haynes manual is your freind) Check dipstick reading. If you have the wrong dipstick you could scribe a new max mark on it. Or measure your dipstick and ask someone with a 1300 stick to measure theres also.
Rick Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 dont all the sumps have a shelf inside them to stop the oil moving out the bottom
72mk1escort Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Yes they do i saw it when i put it on the engine
72mk1escort Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Also can someone with a 1300 crossflow mk1 escort measure their dipstick for me
Fiesta Steve Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 How long's your dipstick steve? I don't know exactly but I do like to slot it in to a warm oily sump
