Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 I used to own a Vespa... bloody un-reliable thing it was. But, I converted it to a 4 speed manual and with 10 inch wheels, it was a right laugh to ride. I also owned a 1962 Innoccenti Lambretta LI125. I wish I still had that one
zetecmk2 Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 had a lambretta 1959 li 150 in the 80's, turned it into a ratty chop with 8" overs!!! the purists hated that!!! seems i'm still ripping old vehicles apart!!! (had a vespa too but don't like to talk about it)
GT_Jim Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 ive got some lambretta pics from shows if they are any good to you
antz Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 sorry any lambretta or vespa owners but i cant udnerstand why a grown man would find it fun to ride round on a lawnmower engine covered in mirrors.... id rather ride round on a pushbike
MightySprocket Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 sorry any lambretta or vespa owners but i cant udnerstand why a grown man would find it fun to ride round on a lawnmower engine covered in mirrors.... id rather ride round on a pushbike lmao, have you never seen Quadrophenia? they are so cool.... proper retro cool

He chops 'em, adds fuel tanks so they're no longer step through & tuned engines.
antz Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 YKT Sprocket... "We are the mods, we are the mods, we are, we are, we are the mods" thats the problem....mods just seem to be the gays of the bike world. maybe my opinion is biased cos both mny parents were in the groups against the mods and i dont actually see the point in grown men riding scooters covered in stripes and mirrors. rather have a proper bike or a car myself

There was / is nothing wrong with rockers, but people didn't want to ride their bikes or wear their clothes. Just another style really. Italian scooter, sharp suits, Parka jackets and quality Motown, Northern Soul and Ska. I love the Mod scene myself and will most probably get another Vespa or Lambretta some time soon. But, saying that, I do love the big British bikes of the 50's and 60's

My interest in Vespas stem from my parents, neither of whom are gay, and neither of whom were mods. And they didn't have fivehundred mirrors on their Vespa. They are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next year. They had a convoy of Vespas at their wedding, and they had a wedding photo taken of them sat on their vespa in their wedding gear. They also toured Europe on theirs in the early 60s. Jim-> Lambretta pictures would be great too
zetecmk2 Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 kool, and a real engine (if that's how you think)! what do you think ant boy?
mk3tina Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 ive had bikes and scooters, and to tell you the truth, the only thing that didnt break down, was the vespa, wasnt an old one, its was a 2004 px125 with a 180cc kit and upgraded exhaust, that thing flew, i know its not that fast but 75mph on one of them is fast enough, i did mod it up a bit, had a massive backrest on it, chrome double legshield trim, and a got a massive wasp and sprayed it chrome and mounted it on the mudguard, and had whitewall tyres, it was red and black and looked well cool. i wish id kept it now but i sold it and bought a cagiva mito 125, and although it was fast it broke down on every ride and just sucked ass
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Mr. Van... the only pics I have of my Lambretta are from when I first bought it so it looks a state. I will scan them in tomorrow for you though I didn't take any of the Vespa because it kept breaking down and, well, quite frankly, pissed me right off. Using it for my job at the time (medical courier) didn't help lol What was I thinking?
