Hi All

Bit of an odd post here, but we have a cat that needs a new home, and all the usual re-homing places are not interested.

Basically I recently bought a house with my G/F, but I am VERY allergic to her cat, so it needs a new home :(

It's 15 yrs old, black, very shy and nervous (it spent 2 weeks behind the TV!), it only has 3 legs and one tooth!!!

I feel really sorry for it, but needs must. But I would really like it to go to a new home rather than a shelter. The chance of it being rehomed from a shelter is unlikely, so I thought it couldnt hurt to post on here just incase there are some cat lovers who would like to give it a good home for its remaining years.

Thanks for reading.

Steve

Failing that, does anyone have a sack and some bricks going spare?

ha ha, i was holdin myself back from the sack n bricks suggestion incase it offended you , and you put it yourself

meeeoow....gurgle...gurgle

:) If you ask me, there is far too much 'holding back' incase people get offended nowadays. Nothing wrong with a healthy sense of humour

come on mate have a heart , its really hard after having a pet for 15 years just to let go and find it somewhere new to live especially with its crudentials the poor fing and i bet your new g/f aint as up for it as you fink , i have had loads of pets like cats and dogs and after a while they become family not just a pet , trust me when the cat goes she will be upset and angry for ages ......

can you not just go to the docs and get some antihistamine tablets or treatment for a cat allergy etc as there are loads out now that you can just get over the counter

have another think mate and see if there is anything else you can do before rehoming it also being 15 years old it wont be easy to find someone else to look after it like it should be and give it care that it has become custom too with a loving owner

I've put up with it for 2 months, I'm actually now on really strong steriod pills and a steroid inhaler, and anithistamine pills too. It was so bad in the first week that I just couldnt breathe, hence the trip to the docs and the major pills!

If I could keep it, I would (for Sarahs sake, not mine). It's just got to the stage where something has to change.

Before we moved in together I wasnt able to spend any time at her place. And if she held the cat before she came over to my place then I could tell as I would be sneezing, etc almost straight away.

I'm amazed I have survived this long.

Oh, and the side effects from steriod pills isnt good either :(

:(

So, it's back to the ''good home wanted'' plea...

I wont be letting her take it to a re-homing place, as that will be the end of it - it wont get another home from there. So I need to find someone who will give it a proper new home, or else I'll be stuck on these pills for the next few years.... :?

Fine, eventually, but you'd have to put up with it hiding behind the sofa for the first few weeks until it was used to the environment.
