keithcdb Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 Right guys it seems my absence from the older car has been my downfall today! Basically the cam is in and upon trying to start it its running (barely) on two, I set the tappets for each cylinder by acheiving TDC on compresion stroke and as far as i can see the cam timing is set. I did not timing disk today so maybe thats my problem Any suggestions? Cheers
Tom Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 have you set it 180deg out? swap the leads over diagonally on the dizzy cap mate
keithcdb Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 have you set it 180deg out? swap the leads over diagonally on the dizzy cap mate I thought about that but i made some rough marks on the cam puley and they seemed to line up and also the position of the lobes on cylinder one were the same after fitting the new cam. Its doing my head in
hellblue Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 If the aux. shaft moved when you did the cam the ignition timing will be out have you checked the timing ??
keithcdb Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 If the aux. shaft moved when you did the cam the ignition timing will be out have you checked the timing ?? I thought the dizzy was driven by the crank?
