disposing of coolant...

right, what do you guys who change the coolant at home do when you need to dispose of it? can't very well just let it go down the drain, and i don't know if i can be arsed to take it to the dump... what do garges do with it?

You mean rad coolant? Isn't it mostly alcohol or something similar? I would flush it down the loo, that way it will go to the treatment plant.

yeah rad coolant, i wana reverse flush the system in the near future and I'm wodering what to do with the bulk of it when it drains...

Waste anti freeze is about the worst thing you can put down the drain, if the water board can trace anti freeze back to your drains your in deep sh*t !!!! In the HGV workshop i work in we have some 45 gallon drums for waste anti freeze/coolent and we have to have it disposed off by a proper firm that collectes it once every 6 months.

Somehow I doubt that the water board will be sampling water from a domestic toilet to see what it's got in it, apart from the obvious. A garage will have far more to dispose of than one person with one car, so obviously they shouldn't tip it down the drain.
