williamson- Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 well here it is, after years of owning and building my mk2 i finaly got a mk1, and wot a mk1 it is! orginaly a 1.1L, 1979 silver. befor the last owner got it it was all xr2 spec, kit, running gear ect then he sorted all the body work and painted it white, fitted the mcr kit (very well i mite add) along with smoked golf headlamps and indicators mounted in the bumper. all done very well. due to work he didnt have time to finish it so that where i come in n snapped it up. these pics realy dont show how good the car is tho, hopfuly i'll b able to get it out a the weekend n wash it for some better pics. plans, well, on the outside 7j pots for a start and a front mount intercooler which i will tuck up behind the front bumper and hide as well as i can but shud look ok i recon. the just finish of the rear corner bumpers and stick some number plates on it. interia wise, stripped, recaros till i get buckets, harnesses then the black dash plus aroung 8 autometer gauges to keep and eye on every thing.suspention wise i got a load of stuff to fit to the mk2 but it will just go on this now, parts included, front adjustable external resivour leda coilovers then gazy shocks n springs on the rear. i'll do a full polybush set also. engine and box will b donated from the mk2, its a 1640 l/b cvh with forged pistins, hybrid t3 turbo, renault5 turbo carb and a intercooler i havnt got yet, oh and theres a external wastegate and screemer pipe too. last dyno run made 240bhp and 265 f l/b torque. its a monster and with a few more tweaks by the time its fitted shud make 250+. gearbox is a s2 rst item with some s1 internals. i managed a 5.8 sec 0-60 at ford fair this year so im aiming to do low 5's in the mk1 next year. the mk2 the engine the mk2 will start to b pulled apart on the 19 of september, hopfully by then i'll have made a start on the mk1 so it'l just b a case of getting the lump in n running then it'll b done, well that and the fuel set-up and the gauges.... u get the idear any way hope u like
Shaun1706 Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 That MK1 looks solid and clean, good luck with it and keep us posted
johnboy Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 very nice, the mk1 looks great, cant wait to see it with the cvh lump. make sure you stick the mk2's roof rack on it as well....
Johnson Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 as ive said to you before, that car needs your engine and your engine needs that car
Anglia68 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Both your Fiestas look cool as f**k. Just wondering where you get those arches from 'cause they look ace?
Rallyfezzigirl Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 The arches look similar to the 1's I have fitted to my Mk1, got mine from MC Rallying
nutta Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 thinking these arches will have to be on my fez too !!!! looks the nuts mate !!
williamson- Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 right update overdue i think. i got the car on the road about a month ago only 3 weeks after taking the mk2 off the road. it was quite a lot of mucking around gettin a T3'd cvh turbo lump in the front of a mk1 wen u want to keep the rad in the front too. tight but its in there, just lol. surfice to say the car is awsome, its a lot lighter than the mk2 but realy dosnt handle the power as well. wen i first got it on the road i had a f/c 5 speed kit on it and it made it un-drivable evan at just a bar of boost it just constantly pulled left on the power, it caught me out a few times n i nearly crashed into the car i was having a play with. at that point i realsied i need to sort it. i modded the shell and tie-bar as the guide on here and its a thousend times better. im stil not 100% happy with it as im sure there is more improvment to b got, ive got a few more idears. at the mo its running around 20psi so around 220hp and im not goin to take it anymore until i sort the handeling a bit more. im aiming for 260bhp wen i next get it dyno'd running more boost, a modded carb and stg3 head. i may also b getting my hands on a early dis system from around 1986! its a awsome bit of kit and proper retro. im goin for the light as pos without goin ott if u no wot i mean, the interia is totaly stripped, no heater box, ive got a fibre-glass bucket seat for my side and a reclining bucket for the passenger, this and the harness will b easily removable for the track/strip or wotever. im gonna ally plate the door cards and rear quarters to keep it looking tidy. hopfuly i'll get the inside painted too soon. heres some pics anyway tight as! as i sed ive got a bit list of things to do still, the rear quater bumpers need doin to finish the outside and the cooler isnt enuf for the power level im at now let alone the planned power hike, i do have a small intercooler to make into a charge cooler n tuck under the servo and this will b fed by a rad in a mk1 fiesta rad mounted in the boot. handling is still top of the list tho, adjustable tca's next and then eccentric top mounts. hopfuly by the shows next year it'll all b sorted
davreeve Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Nice work It does look a bit of a tight fit round the rad area but its in. 150bhp in a mk1 is bloody lively so god only knows what 260 will be like .Make sure you take some spare under pants with you everytime you take it out
NeilT Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 awrsome loving the intearia just wot you need and nothing else
