cjpcarpentry Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 alright guys want some ideas the mk1 cortina is on her way for new shiny paint and parts and and am thinkin for the future what engine to run been told by a good freind to use a bored out 2L pinto all the way with a stage 3 head as this will be my first engine ill of built was wondering what you ford nutters thought cheers chris
over_head_cam Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 For reliability, cheap(ish) BHP, plenty of torque and wide availability of spares I don't think you can beat a 2.1 Pinto
baz105e Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 2.1 pinto is the way forward but looking at newer engines is a good idea too, 2.0 zetec ???
Gonzo Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 1600 4A-GE on carbs FTW! Or a screaming Mazda Rotary.
MK2Ed Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Yep a 2.1 Pinto with stage 3 head and 45's should see you good for 160 bhp and as Phil (OHC) said...
Toby Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Yep a 2.1 Pinto with stage 3 head and 45's should see you good for 160 bhp and as Phil (OHC) said... Hmmmm some truth in this
Lukey48screamer Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Personally I think u'd have to be either mad or just plain loaded to go for a zetec... Especially when you can go down the XE route if you want pretty big twin cam power. But a 2.1 Pinto will most definatley deliver and is just plain bullet proof
cjpcarpentry Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 thanks pinto it is then !!!
MK2Ed Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Yep a 2.1 Pinto with stage 3 head and 45's should see you good for 160 bhp and as Phil (OHC) said... Hmmmm some truth in this LOL you know you want one Toby...
