RUSTYPUP Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Thats my jap toy. I wouldn't consider a '89 car to be a classic, but most people seem to accept bikes as classic at a much younger age
Nettles Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Loving the 350LC Always wanted one, deffo a cult bike and one for the "Dream Garage"
inspectorgusset Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 feck you boys have just sent me on a trip down memory lane when i left school i went to work in a suzuki dealership, in the day they wer just another bike but now they look the nuts
Nettles Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Thanks Retroglam73! All this talk of retro bikes has taken me on a trip down motorcycle memory lane and I found myself going through all my old photo albums looking at photos of all my old bikes. I didn’t realise how many bikes I have actually owned over the years, so I thought I might as well post up a few pics. Here are my bikes from my first one through to my present day ride. Sorry about the picture quality but most of the photos were taken in the days before digital cameras. Honda MTX 50 Mk1 Yamaha RD125LC Mk2 Yamaha RD125LC 1983 Suzuki RM 125 Yamaha XS 250 Honda CB 250 RS Suzuki TSX 50 Honda MT 50 Suzuki GSX 600 F Yamaha XT 600 Tenere Yamaha XJ 400 S Yamaha TDM 850 My present day ride Yamaha YZF 1000 R Thunderace
Retro-gone. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Report Posted September 7, 2008 cool good job my scanners fooked or id be here all night with the amount of bikes and cars ive had since passin me tests in 1978' fook me was it really that long ago
Nettles Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 love the R1!! Sorry mate but it's a YZF1000R "Thunderace" the R1's daddy. The R1 was the later model
Gonzo Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Bikes I've had: '96 Suzuki TS125R, blue an white [still own, in bits, all over my shed and room] '94 TS125R, yellow and white [rebuilt and sold to my mate] '90 ZZR600 painted banana yellow with emulsion... [bought for £120, stripped the fairing off, did some work, sold for £385] '80 Z1000H, fuel injected [still own, was the old man's, still being rebuilt...] '85/6 Armstrong MT500 [still own, close to being back on the road] '02 GasGas 250 Supermoto [now in a big pile of bits being rebuilt. Again.] '91 GPZ900R [just gotta finish paying for it and pick it up from Essex...] '89 KX500, +1 for spares [still got, still in bits...] '8- AR125 ratbike. Featured in BSH on several occasions with the previous owner, Urban Terrorist [still got, again another project] I really must get a job and get some of these sorted.
cyrix Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 My dad restored a Kettle a while ago, his was I think "Maui Blue" cost him a fortune in new bits, I think the exhausts and seat set him back over £1500 7/8 years ago. The weight of the thing is ridiculous. I vaguely remember rebuilding a GT550 engine with him also. I had an Yamaha RD250DX a few years back and currently own an RD350YPVS, probably should sell it as I doubt I will ride again (mate lost an arm in a bike accident)
Copey Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 love the R1!! Sorry mate but it's a YZF1000R "Thunderace" the R1's daddy. The R1 was the later model shows my lack of bike knowledge
Gonzo Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I lost most of the use of my left arm and shattered my kneecap [among other things] crashing my bikes. Old man was left for dead at the side of the road by the paramedics after a big smash in '76. We won't ever give up riding though. Too much fun. Another one of his mates lost his leg from just above the knee, uncle had external fixators [same crash, mate was on the back] and they both still ride. Just gotta know what could happen and be prepared for it. Ride to your limits and enjoy it while you can.
caprinerd Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 had an RD 350LC, GT380, Z1100 and then aZ1300 and at the mo out the back i have a tdm850 twin which is going to be put on fleabay as spares repairs as i really cant be arsed with it any more
caprinerd Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 back brake need sorting and battery oh and i lost the fooking keys in the garage somewhere as far as i can remember thats it but as i said i really cant be arsed with it now
Gonzo Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 If you can find the keys, they still go for reasonable money on the bay.
Stu_B Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Not really sure if this is a classic?! It's a '94 VFR with about 12,000 on the clock. Belonged to my Uncle from new, my Dad got it about 5yrs ago It's his only bike now & rarely gets used.
