i have owned my mk2 escort estate for about 3 months now and i'm loving it but there's one thing that's been buggin' me & that's the tailgate not sitting quite flush.

it doesn't let any water in and it doesn't even look bent when open but when it's shut the gap at the top is small but at the bottom it's bigger :?

please somebody tell me there's an easy way to adjust this before i start taking things apart and not being able to put them back together

you might be able to adjust it out but its an old ford mate and thats just how they are sometimes.

It took me and over_head_cam (mainly ohc) 6 hours to line up the drivers door on my escort!!

i think it's only started annoying me a bit more since i got back to my car at the leeds cruise to find some idiot pointing it out to his mate by stick his finger in it! :mad2: . i wasn't even there, i was looking at all the other motors. d1ckhead!!! (sorry, rant over)

escort estate tailgates are all pretty much like that so i would worry if its not leaking or squeaking but you you really want to you may be able to adjust it on the hinges and lock pin, only losen them a little then so you can move it but so it will still hold the position once you have move it
