mk1super Posted October 8, 2008 Author Report Posted October 8, 2008 I looked into getting it re wired eg new loom etc but the fella wanted 55 quid an hour
cisco24uk Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Looks like either a starter solenoid had something like that on my mk1 escy. Or it could be a regulator but doubt it.
countrybumpkin Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 i dont think its a regualtor as dynamo regulators a huge about 6" x 3" normaly, you wont hurt yourself by disconecting it the worst thing that can happen is a fuse will blow, i personaly think disconecting it is the easyest way to find out what it does
Toby Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Any more thoughts??? I think I love Sophie Marceau.
Lukey48screamer Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Ive highlighted said box with some dots sorry iam not on a par with the Photoshop gods I was told its something to do with going from Dynamo to Alternator It looks to me like your loom has already been modified and that your car maybe an early model with very few electrics-it appears you have live feeds (reds) coming from your loom and then the box may mearly be an additional fuse box for additional functions as the one mounted to your bulkhead looks ancient and has very few wires passing through it, add to that the loom is wrapped in black electrical tape and not the original loom tape and u could be onto something. Best procedure is a case of disconnecting your battery (stops you getting a shock:mrgreen:) and seeing if you can open up the box to reveal any fuses inside maybe. Using the same method you can disconnect wires from it and connect the battery back up to try all your electrics and see what would have stopped working I removed a whole carrier bag of shitty unneccasary wiring from my car after the muppet that owned it before me filled it up - it fealt sooo good
