id imagine they could repair one in the outer wall temporarily but it would go again, and if its in the water/oil ways surely its dead

You can repair them, but it is a specialist thing, being as the block is cast.

 

What you have to do is drill a hole at each end of the crack... this is so the crack doesn't get bigger. Then it's all welded up. I'm assuming the crack is V'd out to allow a thicker weld which will make it stronger.

 

Whatever you decide to do, I would suggest you drill the holes at each end of the crack otherwise it will just get worse. They only have to be small holes... something like an 8th of an inch :wink:

It's expensive though so it might be best if the putty doesn't fix it to replace it with another one.

 

I've not seen it, it's on my brothers car, he just phoned me to ask if i can ask you guys
