bazbiker Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Went to change the sump on my work jeep tonight because I burst it a while back and welded it all up but it got hit again and started leaking so I thought id just change it for a new one this time, so up on the two poster rap with it and changed the sump but when I went to drop her back to the ground it only went down about a foot and the motor on the ramp decided it has had enough and burnt out. So now I have my jeep stuck almost at the top of the ramp Good job I have one of the work vans at the moment too, but now I dont know how im going to get my jeep back down
evil knievel Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 thats an interesting situation..... call the manufacturer, get them to send something out?
Chris! Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 atleast it didnt fall on you when it burnt out
louie bagel Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 is it a screw lift or a drybolic lift? if its a screw lift you can wind it down by hand from the top of each post but you'll want two people and eat plenty of weatabix in the morning cos its a bloody knackering job dunno what to do if its a hydrolic one the needs to go up before it can go down good luck dude
bazbiker Posted November 10, 2008 Author Report Posted November 10, 2008 It’s a motor up and motor down type so couldn’t fall down when it burnt out and then it has safety locks if it drops to quick. I think its probably second or third hand by now so I’ll just have to find a new motor for it myself. But it looks like I will have to lower the jeep down by hand tomorrow and that’s going to take hours
emu Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Does it have 1 motor and a chain drive to the other post? or 2 motors, one on each post? If its got one motor then you can probably wind it down by hand. Takes a while mind you. Dont know about 2 motor ramps. I would guess you can still wind them down but need to do each post a bit at a time
mk1super Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Couple of mattress on the deck and shove the fooker off worked for me mate mind that was a mini
