it's got a bit of a flat spot at below 2000, just avoid jams!

Did you get any warning before it let go (i assume it was doing about 7000rpm when it did)? I'm just trying to think if there was any chance of oil surge/starvation causing this outcome (hope it was just a duff engine though).

there was a big smokey cloud chasing me off the roundabout! even smoke through the gearbox tunnel! but cleared, then was fine......for a mile! started tapping as i got to the dragon. just turned round and nearly got home!! oil everywhere!!!! but i didn't hear that "rod's gone" snap or anything alarming. we'll see

Chatting to one of my workmates who used to be a mechanic (now a maniac). The holed piston symptoms seem to match, lots of smoke while you are burning off the oil, oil everywhere as the pressurised crankcase causes all the gaskets to leak. Did the engine actually sieze or did it just stop.

Might as well just throw another one in ( I know someone who ca'nt find a 2l that needs some camshafts). Much easier than trying to find a transit engine with a front bowl sump.

oil pump fail during a wooping big burn out out side Burger King in SW19

 

wiped out the cam,cam bearings, followers,big end shells & mains

 

when it came part found a cracked a valve

 

slowley getting the bits togeather sepnd over £1500 on bits the pump alone was £380

 

I know i could wet sump it but that would make me the same as every one else and i like being diffrent

went yesterday the bloke is mustard
