MightySprocket Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 been given a form to sign by Monday to say I will take a 10% pay cut thats a months wages right across the board through the whole company Im not as bad off as some at the moment and im greatful for that but fookin ell, what a shocker
MightySprocket Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 nope! there seems to be a reason why they are rushing it through and demanding it back by monday which gives nobody time to check how they stand legally i was going to buy a winter runabout but now im going to have to put the escort back into service so im going to go over it again this weekend and make sure its 'winter proof' then im buying a lottery ticket
Trevmk3 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 what is it your company does? what happens if you dont sign? i went looking for a new daily drive today but all the places i went round didnt seem arsed at clearing the ice off the motors so you cant see the prices so fook em
MightySprocket Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 we do design and print they say if its not signed and a majority of 75% do sign, then ultimatley i could be sacked
Boreham Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 when will this stop... seem's nobody has any money... companies can't pay people... people can't buy stuff.. the people who make stuff ain't selling.. etc etc.etc
MG-Ford Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Check your original contract bud, my old place did this years ago and I refused to sign as they were doing the same. Turns out the form was illegal LOL, but once signed they can uphold it. I never signed it, but my life was made hell there for the next year so I left, best move I ever made.
MightySprocket Posted November 28, 2008 Author Report Posted November 28, 2008 not estimated to improve till early Feb 08 either
2.8i Cossie Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 take a half day to consult your solicitor

D4N Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Bad news! Credit crunch has hit me too today. been left redundant
bigglesmk2 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 not estimated to improve till early Feb 08 either well your fooked there because thats been and gone and aint that a bummer Noticed that too
christom1978 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 with how things are going just now sign it, my firm told us there would be a 10% pay cut or we could take redunduncy, we all took the pay cut and still have jobs, with the current climate beggars cant be choosers, better to have a lower wage and be able to pay the bills than be jobless, if you dont agree they will probably pay you off and get sum1 to work for less than they are offering you. BELIEVE ME people will work for less than you think in the current climate, this credit crunch sucks, starting to think ill start selling drugs
caprinerd Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 my son is holding onto his job at the mo but the whole work force are on a monthly review for the next 3 months and there asking people to offer volentary redundencies, and banham poultry are doing the same infact all most all companies in norfolk are in the same boat
MightySprocket Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 not estimated to improve till early Feb 08 either well your fooked there because thats been and gone and aint that a bummer lmao good spot Sam
SteveL Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 If you sign this deal now you will never get back to the salary you were on .A lot of these companies are obviously just using the current climate to take the piss .
MightySprocket Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 If you sign this deal now you will never get back to the salary you were on .A lot of these companies are obviously just using the current climate to take the piss . that has crossed my mind
2.8i Cossie Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 how did this go? How many signed and how many fought it?
MightySprocket Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 no one has signed.... yet.... meetings with directors are being had to try and get the bigger picture
JAY PS Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 If you sign this deal now you will never get back to the salary you were on .A lot of these companies are obviously just using the current climate to take the piss . that has crossed my mind Sorry to say this might be the only way your business can survive . I have to make a decision this week with my staff and its not very nice . Local VW garage let loads of staff go and gave the remainer page cuts of 10% .it still might mean they will go . Things are very tough !!!!!!!
Retromotorsport Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 If everyone carries on spending there wouldnt be a reccession, 1 person buys an extra can of beans ... 1 person makes the beans 1 person makes the tin 1 person makes the wrapper 1 person delivers it to the shop and 1 person sells it thats 5 people that have benifited from one tin, so they all buy an extra tin too.............. 5 x 5 = 25 25 x 5 = 125 125 x 5 = 625 the economy goes back into growth .. people cutting back on spending is what causes the reccession.. and by not buying that extra tin the bean maker my not buy what your company makes, and your company is forced to drop staff ... The Media dosnt help.. its all doom an gloom, a company lays off 100 people in a town, they report it, at the same time in the same town theres 200 jobs created, but they wont tell you that. And after they have scared everyone into not spending the retail sales figures are down 10% on this time last year... funny how companies are asking you to take a 10% paycut. I was talking to a guy this weekend and he said he was cutting back on spending, hes jobs safe, so i asked why he was cutting back.. his answer... " acctually i dunno why"
MightySprocket Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 quite agree, i think the media are hugely responsible for the scarring the recession into place the company is indeed trying to make themselves recession proof news on the grapevine is two local competitors are not so lucky and will possibly be gone by Christmas and I feel for the staff there.
