caprinerd Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 and granny rear lights, and port holes as well how retro can you get
over_head_cam Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 That was the style then. I'm quite happy to say that not all of the modifying fashions have stayed with us
caprinerd Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 yep i remember it all well cam man and have to agree with ou there but back then you would be the coolest car on the street wonder if its got the red light to shine on the axle as well
Retro-gone. Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 i want it ! wether it fits in with todays 'fashion' doesnt matter to me.
countrybumpkin Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 if it didnt look some quality workmanship had gone in to it i'd say 'pimp my ride' had struck again
Stu_B Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I love to do a modern take on something like this! It's kind of what I plan to do with my Cortina, similar stance but with taste
KEVSWAYV6 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Back in the day when it was done it was so 'Coooool'. But thing's have moved on, some people will say "Thank god". In the end I bet it turned heads wherever it went, good luck to the fella. I'd like to know where it is now?......anybody.......
Rick Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 its god awful imo but must have been worth the effort back in the day else it wouldnt have been done, obviously the result of alot of hard work whatever way you look at it
Stu_B Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 It is godawfull.... but imagine if you removed the porthole & bar, fluffy interior... well basically removed all the crap!! Paint it a decent colour but keep the stance & the barrel fuel tank... I'd drive it
Copey Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 It is godawfull.... but imagine if you removed the porthole & bar, fluffy interior... well basically removed all the crap!! Paint it a decent colour but keep the stance & the barrel fuel tank... I'd drive it agreed, get rid of the tackey bits and spray it a good colour and it would look hard as nails!! the stance is awesome
caprinerd Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 back in the day it would have been a work of art and if you went to the chelsea cruise the place would have been plastered with cars looking like this
CrazyCharlie Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 with out all the tat that is the nuts
Retro-gone. Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 proper customising, not just slappin a set of wheels and lowering blocks on. i wonder if any of the 70's custom builders are still around .
oldbus Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 ......not everybody thought it was cool back in those days either and things haven´t changed much. I respect all the hard work gone into it and would never slag it off but.........
Stu_B Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 ......not everybody thought it was cool back in those days either and things haven´t changed much. I respect all the hard work gone into it and would never slag it off but......... Ha this ain't retro rides... Say what you think man
Trevmk3 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 i like the fact they kept the lines of the car by just taking the bootlid off and not chopping the rear of the roof and pillars off without the tat and micky mouse i would have it, love the barrel fuel tank
Retro-gone. Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 thing is with me i like things that have '1970's' written allova em, wether it be cars, motorcycles, pushbikes or even toys, to me its immaterial wether they 'fit in' with todays stuff, i grew up in the 70's and had a fantastic childhood, my brothers had proper custom cars back then and for a young lad like me it was a huge thrill to see all these fancy cars lined up, i couldnt care less about what other people think, if i had the chance of a genuine 70's custom capri again id snap it up this is my old capper from 1978-9 (for those of you that havent seen it)
Retro-gone. Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 lol yeah, i taught my wife to drive in that car and she had to drive wiv her head on a side cos she couldnt see over tha bonnet i admit it was over the top, even back then, but i loved it.
