Main baring cap

My brother is after a main baring cap (Noumber 4) for his 80's spec RS Turbo. Anyone know where I could get hold of one?

Bearing caps are matched to the block that they come from as they are line bored in place. If you've lost one it is not advisable to just replace it with one from another engine.

we are rebuilding an engine to new, we have been in touch with some companies and they said we may need to have it line bored again.

 

Just struggling to find someone that has some bits for sale

I'd say delete "might" have to have it line bored and insert "will" have to have it line bored.

 

I suspect it'll be cheaper to get another second hand (but complete) short engine and rebuild that.

i doubt you will get one as like vista says they are matched so if anyone looses one they normaly scrap the lot, and because of this i dont expect anyone will sell you a secondhand one

I think the RS turbo is a hair dryer driven CVH

my brother has just taken a cvh rs lump out of his car

he give it to much boost or something and blew it up

i can ask if he wants to sell the engine he took out if you want

Thanks for the message, we managed to get one of another motor. Took it with the lump to a place in MK and they skimmed them all up and then re line bored them.
