flyingbanana Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 you can only see the kit once you bend down.........and its quite easy to fit....fun part is trying to get the arb back in.............i used ratchet straps to pull them together slightly so they could be slotted back in
LEONMEX Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 do they move the wheels back much in the arches??
BIG G Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 no wont move the wheels back as the only thing it does is lower the front down by about 1"-1.5" thats all the effect it has. and its a bitch to allign up good luck

LEONMEX Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 is the anti-dive the one that drops the roll bar bout and inch is an has the roll bar brakets with 4 bolts instead of 2 and there is 3 of these brackets? thats the job. thanks for the pics bigdaz
Retromotorsport Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Poor old Anti-Dive kits ... they always take a bashing from a few people on here.... so can I ask what was wrong with them, and did you fit them for the purpose they where designed for? Which was, for bloody rally cars, not slammed cars using a 175/50 tyre which drop the rolling diameter down to 19" not the 22" of the RAISED RIDE HEIGHT of the rally car using Michelin Rally Tyres. Some facts, when lowering a car you cause the castor of the car to change, and the castor value is low allready on an Escort, then if you JUST fit an Anti-dive kit, you loose even more castor, to the point where you have almost none... this cause the front end to wander and wobble, and even more so under braking. Now this isnt the fault of the kit, but the fitter. If your fitting an Anti-dive kit to a lowered car, then use the twincam bar and if you find that the twink bar moves the wheels too far forward, then fit some twink arb brackets, these are different to the standard ones, they move the wheels back a little. When your bolting on parts, you have to think what they are for, or where designed for, not just bolt one part of a kit on and then say it dosnt work. The Anti-dive kit was designed by the same guys that gave you all the 'glorious gp4 Escort' ...the holy grail of rally cars, so were they wrong when they designed it?
bigdaz27 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i dont like them cos when you brake the front dips shorley this helps the car stop quicker. and like you said they are designed for race cars not road cars mine was fitted to the car when i got it and fitted badley at that i have sorted the bad fitting problem with the right arb brackets and twincam arb but still dont like the way the car drives with it fitted so its coming of
BIG G Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 The Anti-dive kit was designed by the same guys that gave you all the 'glorious gp4 Escort' ...the holy grail of rally cars, so were they wrong when they designed it? That guy was sooooo wrong as they are shit, flimsy, cheap and in my opinion a waste of money as ive been there done that and a waste of time totally on a car lowered more that the kit lowers the roll bar. Surely if the roll bar lays to flat could have the opposite effect
Retromotorsport Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i dont like them cos when you brake the front dips shorley this helps the car stop quicker. No............ as the car dips you gain negitive camber, so that the outer edge of the tyre lifts off the ground .. so lessens the grip = less braking/longer stopping distance
5hane Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 ive bought a anti-dive kit for mine, and i think they look quite good poking under the front (NOT why i bought it mind) but ive been thinking about getting a 'whiteline' uprated ARB, i havent seen any on osf's yet. but they do, do a ARB for mk1 and mk2 escorts. ive got to find how much they are, i havent 'enquired' yet. OR i think GARTRAC do them ? but, il would imagin the price would be the same as getting a new set of willwods.. AND theres a bloke on another forum who use to work for gartrac, i think he can also make them the point of all that, is a uprated ARB better than a anti-dive kit?
Retromotorsport Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 That guy was sooooo wrong as they are shit, flimsy, cheap and in my opinion a waste of money as ive been there done that and a waste of time totally on a car lowered more that the kit lowers the roll bar. Surely if the roll bar lays to flat could have the opposite effect A: where did you get your kit from ? B: full anti-dive is used on so many winning cars ... are they wrong too
bigdaz27 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 so by removing the anti dive kit my stoping distance will be worse so what would you recemend for fast road use then instead of the anti dive kit
BIG G Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 A cant remember was about 80quid 7 years ago b yes they would be further in front if they didn't have a bit of angle iron bolted to there race car
BIG G Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 so by removing the anti dive kit my stoping distance will be worse so what would you recemend for fast road use then instead of the anti dive kit an anchor as its lighter
