oldbus Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I have just got my wheels back from blasting and want to finish them off and fit them to the Capri... Will they need some sort of special aluminium priming before painting or can I use normal two pack and paint? I suppose the same goes for the aluminium Rocker covers too...... cheers, Dave
dyt397c Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i`ve always used Etch-primer on bare alloy. dont know if you need to, i just do!! and it seems to work!!
Fiesta Steve Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Yes, you should be using etch primer for alloy
mk1rob Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i find 'hammerite special metals primer' good
danny69 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Most etch primers are acid etch whereas for ally you need an alkali etch I think.
Rick Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 etch primer is good and 2pac paint is good, but its never as hard as say powdercoating unless you can bake it on
