X-pack-Glyn Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Heading home on my normal run, turned right at the lights and looked in my rear view, just as a 3 searies smacked in to the back of me! I'm not to happy to say the least, bumper is knackered and has been pushed in to the back panel, ive not bothered checking the rest and just stuck it the the gerage till tomorrow when there is better light. Rant over, just need a few drinks! are you a late braker?
trevb Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I've been known on the odd occasion, but not last night when it happened, it was solid traffic going all the way up the hill in front of me, it was just a good job I kept my foot on the brakes and did'nt go in to the car in front. Went to the doc's today, I've got a bit of whip lash and some nice painkillers to go with it. just cant drink with them
Rick Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 itl be his fault but i really wouldnt start playing on injuries... one day you might hit the back of someone, its easilly done. Thats why we all pay giant insurance premiums cuz people claim for everything going every time theres an incident
Jubfab Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 itl be his fault but i really wouldnt start playing on injuries... one day you might hit the back of someone, its easilly done. Thats why we all pay giant insurance premiums cuz people claim for everything going every time theres an incident Just been reading this thread and thinking the same. It's great that in one thread we state premiums are chuffing expensive - just got quoted £3000 for a 1.1 pop etc etc . Then another thread appears and a poor sod gets his pride and joy damaged (sympathys there by the way) And it's get a good solicitor etc etc. I remember a neighbour getting impacted in the rear (minor) then bragged about the kitchen the compo paid, and openly admitting there was nowt wrong with him. I just see that my premiums paid for his kitchen cupboards !!!!!!!!!!!!! Dont get me wrong if your injured fair enough. I've had a couple of people hit me in the rear in 21 years of driving and been luckily enough to not be injured or need compensation other than getting my car fixed. And one of the times it was my 1964 Anglia Good luck with sorting the claim out and dont be too greedy on the repairs / taking to most expensive shop etc - remember they could total loss it and give you more hassle....
Trevmk3 Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 not good Trev mate, hope you manage to get it sorted alright as said above, you want to make sure you go to the right place that wont try and write it off, because to most places it will just be an old escort
ChristophStone Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Not the escort I'd have got out and chinned him Was thinking about it, but he was 6"+ and he's a fireman!! i would have diffenatly butted the barstard even if he shoed me after at lest i would have broke his fooking noes the good for nuffin streak of piss anyway you must clame compensation i got 6k for a tesco lory up the arse of my taxi 2 years ago and i got my self some proper medication a mk1 escort To be honest that's a really shitty attitude. Everyone makes mistakes. Why the need to get out and hit someone? I've also had someone run into the back of me, and I got out, made sure they were ok, they were apologetic and everything was fine. No need to get violent just be glad it's only metal and that no one was hurt.
pelvins Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 gutted for ya m8 hope you get it sorted ok
trevb Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Just wanted to say a big thanks for all the kind words, I too hope it all gets sorted soon, I've been trying to work out all the costs to see if the guy wants to sort it outside the insurance companies, and from what seems like a simple bump soon adds up! I've got the cost for the bumper and reg plate light. I cant seem to find any rear bumper brackets! and was wondering if anyone knows what it would cost to replace and paint the back panel? The panel itself cost £50 from e-bay so its just the welding and paint cost that im looking for, if anyone has any idea? As for personal injury claims its a hard thing to decide about, yes my shoulder has whip lash but if it heals over the next week I cant see any need for it... On a good note, I had my CBT bike test today and I PASSED!!!!!
