cellulose paint ban

does any one know when this ban comes in force or is it all ready

 

also if it banned,whats the option they will give us DIY'ers for paint...or will we have to use 2k

wrong way round mate, it's 2k they are gonna ban, due to the thinners containing bad stuff I believe, from what i can gather the replacement will be water based as opposed to thinners based paint, that needs special heaters to dry and a much longer drying time!

I heard summat similar, but that you cant get a decent water based laquer, so 2k laquer wont be banned Probably one of those rumours that gets spread like chinese whispers but thats how I understood it!?

Our bodyshop has been using ICI waterbased paint for about 5 years now. The painters say its harder to paint with, and takes longer to bake in the ovens. We use the water based laquer, but its really thin. If i have any jobs done at work, i just buy 2 pak everything.

i belive the ban comes in force at the end of the year...i better get my self down to the shop has i need paint for the car im doing atm and also need to do my escort when i get the chance to repair it...........i have been thinking of getting the escort done in the body shop but its not that bad really but ive seen differnt prices for a respray jobs, main problem i have is that i dont know what colour it was sprayed with and so far never got a proper match

spoke to the guy who supplies my paint and he hasnt got an exact date yet but the production of cellulose and normal 2 pak will stop, although they can still sell it until the stocks run out.

also i didnt realise there are only 12 base paints used to make most colours!!
