if you havnt read last weeks MCN, there is a new "surveilance system" just for motorbikes going to be used in Derbyshire

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/ ... EPI-106287

they say its because there is a high accident rate on the roads with the motorbikes, its higher than other places because more motorbikes use them roads than other roads. i think it could be going a step far now though, especially if i get a bike when i can afford it as its all roads i use :evil::evil:

About time too, there are unfortunately some motorcyclists out there that think that some sections of road are there own personal race track and a normal speed camera cannot read a number plate which isn't there.

If there wasn't a problem in the first place then those actions wouldn't need to have been taken  as for Shakey's comments, pride comes before a fall mate, just hope you don't take anyone with you....

I've ridden for 16 years since I left school, and these days I take it easy. But a few years ago I used to ride the hartside pass around Alston, every weekend the roads were rammed with bikes, and still are. But most of the lads up there (myself included) were riding flat out as fast as they possibly could. We used to ride thottle to the stop everywhere, up on the moors you could see for miles, so we rode as fast as we wanted to. Looking back I feel lucky to still be here, considering the stuff we used to do. Its a funny thing, when looking back. But the addrenilin used to flow and you felt invincible. Some of the over takes on blind bends and on crests of hills were plain stupid. But especially if riding in a group, you would risk any manouvre to keep up.

These days I stick to the speed limits (ish) but I can understand why the police are targetting bikes, cos there are some crazy fast riders out on the public roads.

Velcro on numberplate simples  And reccy the road before going ape

On a serious note theres a time and place for being a hooligan, and nobody knows whats round the next corner, and young riders seem to think they can catch bullets between there teeth while doing a wheelies and slurpin a milkshake  First biggie you have soon knocks it out of em and if there unlucky permantley.

Mate of mine 3 years ago thought he was better than Foggy and he was a great rider knew all the right lines to take could read roads to perfection always in right gear never messed up a corner, he didnt count on running into the back of a lorry dropping off slabs at a house next to a country lane he would regularly clock 130+ on.

They found his head still inside his crash helmet over a 150 yards away, he died instantly never even got on the brakes. Be alive today if he had just slowed down.

The first mate you lose slows you down for a bit when its the 3rd and 4th its slows you down forever.

The Cat and Fiddle run they talk about is a long twisting road over the moors. Very busy with cars and bikes on nice days at the weekend.

The road is lined by drystone walls. There are loads of parts of the wall knocked down where the driver/biker hasn't made it. For such an exposed part of the world it is surprising just how many flowers you can see on the side of the road.

The bikers go flat out, banking so far over on the sharp bends that their heads are on the wrong side of the road (in front of oncoming traffic). It is terrifying to drive a car along there at times because of the bikes. (not all of them, but a very significant amount)

I have nothing against bikes or those that ride them, I can also see the fun in doing it. If it was up to me I would just ban them off that road altogether, it would save all the walls being broken down, would save a fortune in policing and ambulance costs and would save a lot of grief for friends, relatives, witnesses and drivers that they run into.

As Daggle said, it is only being introduced because there is a problem.

Ive heard the stories of bikes doing over 150 over the Cat an fiddle, which is stupid.

However banning bikes  bit extreme, i am pro bike i love them, always have. The freedom, the mates you make by being round em is fantastic very much like the old ford scene.

And in general you will not find nicer or more responsible road users, there is like in all things a small band of loonies that tarnish the rest but you get that everywhere in life. Speed only accounts for some bikers dying on the road not them all, alot is down to other road users who seem to have tunnel vision and are stone deaf.

I have heard countless stories of how bikers were knocked off there bikes by drivers who didnt see em

I mean ffs most bikes are bright coloured and there riders are dressed like a power ranger and the bike you can hear comming three counties away. if you didnt see it, or the rider or even hear it are you fit to be incharge of anything let alone a motor vehicle?

If all road users were a bit more thoughtful and those not fit to drivve barred from using a vehicle the lanes would be a safer place, i still say the driving test should include some form of IQ test too!

I don't disagree with any of that.

If bikers rode like they do over the Cat and Fiddle on a track, they would be black flagged.

Maybe the biking community should have a word with the bikers that caused the cameras to be put up in the first place.

lol @ 'dressed like power rangers... but it is true, most threats to bikers are retard car/van/truck drivers... but there is always an exception to the rule!

wouldn't catch me on a bike on the public roads... would love a go on a track though!

but they dont let you go fast on a track.... they still set speed limits

Thats for your own well being, they dont want to have scrape you up and haul your ass in a air ambulance to the local intensive care unit because you rode like tit thinking your Nori bleedin haga. If you are that good and want to try break the landspeed record, get a race licence and and do clubman racing like me mate does, doesnt take a huge budget and is good fun

And Ritchie your so right mate, just treat everyother road user as blind deaf and out to kill you and you wont go to far wrong :lol:

my brothers mate does club racing and has his own business prepping bikes for people in Derby, he usually races 250's and hes pretty quick, one race at donnington he started 42nd and finished about 8th, against 600's and stuff :ykt:
