met up with a few osf lads in leeds and headed to scotch corner. 5 miles out of leeds my car lost all power doing 70 in a 5 lane motorway, managed to get it across to the hard shoulder.

Turned out the wire going from battery to solenoid had dropped and pressed against the manifold. Burnt through the wire and then shorted out. No power at all from the battery so thought it had blown something or all fuses. RAC turned up and the car fired up ok, the battery had gone flat and had time to recover. RAC man taped up my wire, then cable tied it all to the side. Got going again and caught up with the lads at scotch corner, and had a great afternoon out.

Was my fault, cos I should have taken more time and care when fitting the wires, but glad it was nothing serious. RAC were very helpfull, and arrived in short time too, so big thanks to them

I carry one in both my cars and so does my dad. Those little halfords ones are not bad for the price and look neat when installed.

scarey trying to get onto the hard shoulder, at the end of the day it was a silly mistake on my part, but glad it happened in a safeish place, could have been a lot worse if it had happened in the coned off 50mph zone near Wetherby
