i have just bought a 1300gt 2dr mk1 escort, or i think i have

 

does any one know if it was a gt would it always state it on the log book, i have looked around the car it has disc brakes on the front servo brakes etc 6 pot dash , is there any thing else which would make it stand out to be a gt version,, my concorn is it doesnt say it on the log book ,i have looked on the net and i cant find any good pics of a two door and all its extras, can anyone help thanks lee

On the vin under engine should be ® i maybe talking poop though lol

For me was from memory after reading Haynes manual

my chassis number reads this on the plate under the bonnet bbtgkr there is no A on the chassis plate but there is one on the log book. so this is how it should read bbatgkr can any body tell me if this is correct for a gt model as it doesnt say gt just says escort on the log book

The R stands for GT mate look in a haynes manual it shows you how to tell there but from my memory it is the last letter of the code so yes you have a GT

hmm nope somthinks not right?

what year reg is it , cos G donates 1967 build?? very early..

and it sould be either BBAT?????? or BB40-5? ? on early models..

But after that it looks a little odd as the chassis number should be 6 letters followed be a vehicle specific number, you've quoted 7 letters.

 

Do you have the kind of VIN plate on the bottom left or right of the pic below? I'm guessing bottom left from the info you've supplied.

 

The box marked version identifies what model it is (or at least what model the plate was off) The letter options that could be in it are as follows

 

S - Standard

D - Base

M - L

P - XL

Q - Sport

G - GT and Mexico

L - Twin cam, RS1600 and RS 2000

It should have a plate on it that is one of the two options above. What letters does your VIN no start with on the reg document?
