I know how you feel. You spend loads of time and effort trying to improve things, the car seems loads quicker and then on the strip you are only a tiny bit quicker or in my case sometimes slower. All very frustrating. :D

The only difference this year from last is I've added some dead weight in the form of a rollcage :) So really I've done well not to drop any time, still annoying tho!

Going for a V8 next year, I managed to get my hands on a rover v8 for free :D

don't wana piss on your cornflakes, but i think rover v8s are well overated engines compared to their yank breddrin... i'm sure a standard cossie v6 is about the same power as a standard rV8, someone can correct me if i'm wrong? PLus they don't respond so well to tuning as the americans? just my two cents though? (i am also aware it started life accross the pond as a buick engine before some smarty pants points that out!

the standard v6 has more power than a standard rv8, in my opinion rv8s are a bit of a waste of time, ok yeah they are light and everything, but they just dont give the power, its all noise

I can't afford the petrol for a yank V8. I have considered the small block 302 but the rover is just more fanatically viable!

16.0 is a good time for a 2.8. What axle are you using? Most run nearer 17 secs.

What was your terminal Speed?

Some Toyo R888`s and some softer rear shocks might get you your extra speed if you don`t have them already.

Due you have your interior in place still?

Check all your wheels are as free as possible and put plenty of air in the fronts to lower rolling resistance.

The easiest swap would be to drop in an Essex lump as this would be more tunable and most of your connections would match up crossmember etc., even the rev counter.

But it isn`t a popular choice due to weight. But if you were worried about weight you wouldn`t be using a Capri :)

It's defiantly a quick 2.8i, everyone told me I wouldn’t get it bellow 16.5. It’s going across the line at 86.5 mph. Standard axle on it with the standard lsd.

Grip of the line isn't a problem. I have adjustable rear shocks, and unless I’m very aggressive, most times I don’t get much wheel spin.

Still has full interior and 6 point role cage. Don't want to lose my comfort :)
