type 9 was type of gearbox bit like pinto and xflow for an engine, its just an evolution of another box

4 speeder out of an early 2.8 is a type 5

I see, so apart from the input shaft needing a bit of modding anything else need doing to fit this to an 1800 ZETEC in a standard mk2 escort?

Early capri 2.8i's did have a 4 speed box, but I can't confirm that they were also type 9's

All V6 4 speed were type 5 (the bullet on steriods) its a good box in itself but not the sweetest changing 4 speeder and the reverse takes some getting used to.

all type 9s are 5 speeders.
