Mr Sam Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 fookin mate the git is allways offering me old crusty cars at bargin prices, but there either not my thing or im skint, anyway he needs to shift a few things quick ish anyway hes offered me a '1974 jeans bug' my imediate reaction was well it better be a few hundred with not alot need doing to it.... so it needs an exhaust a gear linkage and some very minor welding and will let me have it for £350 like that but not quite as clean... so someone buy my fookin anglia
stevepeanut Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 I've had a couple off 1303 bugs, that sounds a good price, as long as its definately only minor welding. The 2 bugs we had, bloody hell, never seen so much rot in my life. If its as good as he says, I'd bite his hand off at that price, the jeans ones look ace too
lotusless Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 i wouldn't have it if you gave me it for nothing!! just chuck an empty oil drum with some ball bearings in it in the back of your festa + let it rattle around and you can pretend you have a crappy bug
Mr Sam Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 the boot rattles around on the fezza anyway
Stu_B Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 I've promised my girlfriend we'll get one as a project as soon as the cortina is on the road
caprinerd Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 if its the jeans bug and the interior is in good condition its well worth the money as the denim is sortafter from what ive been told by bug jammers
omj624p Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Ive just seen my first ever one of those, I was in Reading earlier. Dont suppose it's the same one?
Mr Sam Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 the picture shown isnt the exact car, its a little shabby i will go have a looksie at it and have a propper think
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 If it's a Jeans, make sure it's got the denim interior. Then put it on ebay!
Mr Sam Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 no no its a good mate ive only been offered it at this price for thus reason and if i do ever sell he gets first refusal im so very tempted but at the same time what could i do to the fiesta with the same money and what i would speand on fixing the bug the good news is the anglia is hopefully sold so i can pay off the old man and have no debt what so ever
X-pack-Glyn Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 It is a beetle but it aint, its got the curvy screen, ellephants feet and the plastic dash... of it was an OSF it would be a mk3 escort... its well worth the money though and some, but to be a propper beetle it needs the beam front and and not the struts, it beetle shows they get little respect. if you get it its worth more than 350 standard but if you want one to modifly, ie slam on the floor on some empi's it really needs to be a pre 67.
X-pack-Glyn Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 slam it surfs up lads thats exactly the problem mate, you cant with those ones, not as much as the early ones with beams. you can fit airbags though.
Mr Sam Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 i wont be slamming it, the fella im buying it off slammed his camper fitted a scooby engine pulled off his drive under power and ripped the sump wide open im not worried about a pre 67 at the end of the day its still a beetle and it still has the air cooled sounds, i just want one for one of them bee sting tail pipes lifting the wheels off the line would be nice but i think id stick to the 1200 thats in it and just keep it fairly standard after the fords the beetles are deffinetly one of my fav old skool cars, campers dont really do it for me for some reason
Stu_B Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Volksrod it although I don't think you can if it's on struts
