countrybumpkin Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 with the escort i'm currently building i'm having some issuse with sump clearance due to the engine having to have a front bowl i'd though before about dry sumping it but the costs are putting me off but today someone sugested using an electric oil pump which got me woundering is this possible and has anyone done it?
Admin Vista Posted May 19, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 19, 2009 I don't know if it's been done but I'm sure it's theoretically possible, Electric lubrication pumps are in use in all sorts of mechanical applications. BUT I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with entrusting my engine to the 10p fuse that the pump would run off. If it pops, you lose your pressure pump and your scavenge pump instantly.
countrybumpkin Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 yeah thats a fair point, not sure i'd but 100% happy ether but on the plus side i guess you could have to pump build pressure before starting
